Indiana State Road 127
State Road 127 (SR 127) is a short north–south highway in northeast corner of the U.S. state of Indiana between U.S. Route 20 (US 20) in Angola, Indiana and SR 120. Its present length was formerly a part of old US 27, whose designation was moved to the new Interstate 69 (I–69) when the freeway was completed in northern Indiana in 1967. SR 127 is in fact a "child" of US 27; however, Indiana decommissioned all of US 27 north of Fort Wayne, so SR 127 no longer connects with US 27 anywhere. It functions in part to connect SR 120 to I–69 and, south of its interchange with I–69, it provides a local thoroughfare into Angola. The last several miles of SR 127 north of Angola's town square are crowded with fast-food franchises and other national chains. Pokagon State Park
Pokagon State Park is an Indiana state park in the northeastern part of the state, near the village of Fremont and north of Angola. It was named for the 19th-century Potawatomi chief, Leopold Pokagon, and his widely known son, Simon Pokagon, at Richard Lieber's suggestion. The park has an inn, camping facilities, and a staff of full-time naturalists. Pokagon receives nearly 640,000 visitors annually. Overview The park is bordered by Lake James on the west and south and Snow Lake on the north. Various wetlands can be seen throughout the park, and the Potawatomi Nature Preserve makes up a large portion of its east side. Over of hiking trails wind through the park. Indiana State Road 727 (SR 727) is a very short east–west state highway in Indiana, lying entirely within Steuben County. The route is a spur off of SR 127 that serves Pokagon State Park. The western terminus of SR 727 is at the main entrance into Pokagon State Park and its eastern terminus is at SR 127 two miles south of SR 120, immediately northwest of the SR 127 interchange off of I-69.
