Indian Cricket Team In South Africa In 2023–24
The Indian cricket team toured South Africa from December 2023 to January 2024 to play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Test matches. The Test series formed part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. The T20I series formed part of both teams' preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. On 14 July 2023, Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of the tour. The T20I series was drawn 1–1, after first T20I was washed out due to rain. India won the ODI series 2–1. On 22 December 2023, South Africa's Dean Elgar announced that he would retire from the Tests after the Test series. South Africa won the first Test by an innings and 32 runs. Temba Bavuma (born 17 May 1990) is a South African international cricketer who currently is the captain of the South African cricket team in white-ball cricket. He also vice-captains South Africa in Test cricket. He is a right-handed batter and was the first black African cricketer to make a Test century for South Africa and the first to captain the side. Bavuma is only the second South African cricketer to score a century on ODI debut, scoring 113 runs against Ireland in September 2016. Early life Brought up in the intense cricket culture of Langa – Bavuma, Thami Tsolekile and Malusi Siboto are all from the same street – Bavuma was educated at South African College Junior School in Newlands, and St David's Marist Inanda, a boys high School in Sandton.
