India Fed Cup Team
The India Billie Jean King Cup team represents India in the WTA & ITF Billie Jean King Cup professional tennis competition and are governed by the All India Tennis Association. They will compete in the Asia/Oceania Zone of Group I in 2016. History India competed in its first Fed Cup in 1977, but did not compete again until 1991. Since 1991, India has been competing annually (except 1993). India's best result was reaching the Asia/Oceania Group I final in 2006. In 2004, Manisha Malhotra and Sania Mirza broke the record for playing the longest tiebreak (21-19) in their doubles match against Uzbekistani pair Vlada Ekshibarova and Ivanna Israilova. Vishal Uppal (born 10 November 1976) is a tennis player from India. He participated in the Davis Cup The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. He actually started playing cricket at school as a young boy, but switched to tennis at the age of 11. He played in Father O'Brien's tennis tournament at school and lost in the semifinals, but it made him determined to keep playing and to win. In 2002, he represented India in the Davis Cup and he won the men's doubles bronze with Mustafa Ghouse. He played in the Davis Cup in both 2000 and 2002. Rushmi Chakravarthi
Rushmi Chakravarthi ( te, రుష్మి చక్రవర్తి; born 9 October 1977) is a former professional tennis player from India. She won a record 52 ITF titles, the highest number set by an Indian female player. She turned professional, after playing in the first round of the WTA Tour tournament Sunfeast Open, held at Kolkata in September 2005. Her last match on the ITF Circuit took place in June 2017 in Aurangabad. Tennis career 2005–2010 She was predominantly an ITF Circuit player.
