Independent University, Bangladesh ( bn, ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or IUB is a one of the well renowned, prestigious and popular private university in Bangladesh. It is located in Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1993 under the Private University Act, 1992. With an explicit focus on Research and Global partnerships. Enamul Haque (museologist)
Enamul Haque (1 March 1937 – 10 July 2022) was a Bangladeshi museologist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2014 and Independence Day Award in 2017 by the Government of Bangladesh. In 2020, Haque was also awarded the Padma Shri award (India's 4th Highest civilian award) for his tremendous contribution in the field of archeology and museology by the Government of India. Education and career Haque completed his bachelor's in history and master's in archaeological history from the University of Dhaka. He later earned his PhD on South Asian Art from the University of Oxford. He got his post-graduate Diploma-in-Museology from London. The Independence Day Award ( bn, স্বাধীনতা পদক), also termed Independence Award ( bn, স্বাধীনতা পুরস্কার), Swadhinata Padak, and Swadhinata Puroskar, is the highest state award given by the government of Bangladesh. Introduced in 1977 by president Ziaur Rahman, this award is bestowed upon Bangladeshi citizens or organizations in recognition of substantial contribution to one of many fields, including the War of Liberation, the Language Movement, education, literature, journalism, public service, science and technology, medical science, social science, song, games and sports, fine arts, rural development, and other areas. Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019. Mustafa Zaman Abbasi
Mustafa Zaman Abbasi (born 8 December 1936) is a Bangladeshi musicologist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1995 by the Government of Bangladesh. Abbasi is the youngest son of folk singer-composer Abbas Uddin Ahmed. As of 2016, he serves as a senior research scholar at the "Kazi Nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Research and Study Centre" of Independent University, Bangladesh.
