Film Producers
A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing. The producer is responsible for finding and selecting promising material for development. Unless the film is based on an existing script, the producer hires a screenwriter and oversees the script's development. These activities culminate with the pitch, led by the producer, to secure the financial backing that enables production to begin. If all succeeds, the project is "greenlighted". The producer also supervises the pre-production, principal photography and post-production stages of filmmaking. A producer is also responsible for hiring a director for the film, as well as other key crew members. Whereas the director makes the creative decisions during the production, the producer typically mana ...

Richard III (1955 Film)
''Richard III'' is a 1955 British Technicolor film adaptation of William Shakespeare's historical play of the same name, also incorporating elements from his ''Henry VI, Part 3''. It was directed and produced by Laurence Olivier, who also played the lead role. In the process, many are killed and betrayed, with Richard's evil leading to his own downfall. The prologue of the film states that history without its legends would be "a dry matter indeed", implicitly admitting to the artistic licence that Shakespeare applied to the events of the time. Of the three Shakespearean films directed by Olivier, ''Richard III'' received the least critical praise at the time, although it was still acclaimed. It was the only one not to be nominated for Best Picture a ...

Beat The Devil (film)
''Beat the Devil'' is a 1953 adventure comedy film directed by John Huston. It starred Humphrey Bogart, Jennifer Jones, and Gina Lollobrigida and featured Robert Morley, Peter Lorre, and Bernard Lee. Huston and Truman Capote wrote the screenplay, loosely based upon the 1951 novel of the same name by British journalist Claud Cockburn writing under the pseudonym James Helvick. Huston made the film as a sort of loose parody of the 1941 film '' The Maltese Falcon'', which Huston directed and in which Bogart and Lorre appeared. Capote said, "John ustonand I decided to kid the story, to treat it as a parody. Instead of another ''Maltese Falcon'', we turned it into a... poofon this type of film." The script, written on a day-to-day basis as the film was shot, concerns the adventures of a motley crew of swindlers and ne'er-do-wells trying to claim land rich in uranium deposits in Kenya as they wait in a small Italian port to travel aboard a tramp steamer en route to Mombasa.
