Independent Current Coalition
The Independent Current Coalition ( ar-at, تيار الاستقلال, Tayyar al-Istiqlal) is an alliance of political parties contesting the 2014 Egyptian parliamentary election in a joint list with the Egyptian Front, called ''Egypt Egypt ( ar, مصر , ), officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a transcontinental country spanning the northeast corner of Africa and southwest corner of Asia via a land bridge formed by the Sinai Peninsula. It is bordered by the Mediter ...''. The alliance was established on 15 June 2014 by the Independent Party Current, which has been active since December 2012. The alliance is also called the Supporting the President coalition. The general coordinator of the alliance is Hamdy al-Fakharany. The coalition is made up of 36 parties. The House of Representatives ( ar, مجلس النواب, Maglis El Nowwab) is the lower house of Egypt's bicameral parliament. Formation of the House The 2014 constitution that was passed in the 2014 constitutional referendum has put into place the following rules: the House that is elected following the ratification of the constitution must have at least 450 members. In addition, prospective members must be Egyptian, must be at least 25 years old and must hold an education certificate. Also, the president can appoint, at the most, five percent of the members in the chamber. The House sits for a five-year term but can be dissolved earlier by the president. All seats are voted on in each election. The House of Representatives members are elected by absolute majority of legitimate votes cast. Egyptian parliamentary elections to the House of Representatives were held in two phases, from 17 October to 2 December 2015. The elected parliament will be entrusted with the task of reviewing the laws that were passed while a parliament was not in session. In preparation for the election, security was tightened across the country with at least 185,000 troops supporting police, president Sisi made a televised appeal for Egyptians to vote, and in mid-October, public sector employees were given half a day's holiday to encourage them to take part. Egyptian Front
The Egyptian Front ( ar-at, الجبهة المصرية, al-Gabha al-Masreya) is an alliance of political parties contesting the 2015 Egyptian parliamentary election in a joint list with the Independent Current Coalition, called Egypt. The alliance was established on 17 August 2014. Former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi has criticized the alliance by stating that it represents "Mubarak-era politics". The Modern Egypt Party withdrew from the coalition. The Tagammu Party is not part of the coalition. The Egyptian Patriotic Movement and the My Homeland Egypt Party left the alliance and joined the For the Love of Egypt coalition following a failed attempt to merge the For the Love of Egypt coalition and the Egyptian Front. The Democratic Peace Party ( ar, حزب السلام الديمقراطي) is a small Egyptian political party that was formed in 2005. According to its chairman on Al-Faraeen TV (Parliament and parties program) he stated that there are about one million members in the party. The party has been described as a party that is "secular leaning but embraces an Islamic identity." The party presses for establishing peace in the region and worldwide.
