Comparability
In mathematics, two elements ''x'' and ''y'' of a set ''P'' are said to be comparable with respect to a binary relation ≤ if at least one of ''x'' ≤ ''y'' or ''y'' ≤ ''x'' is true. They are called incomparable if they are not comparable. Rigorous definition A binary relation on a set P is by definition any subset R of P \times P. Given x, y \in P, x R y is written if and only if (x, y) \in R, in which case x is said to be to y by R. An element x \in P is said to be , or (), to an element y \in P if x R y or y R x. Often, a symbol indicating comparison, such as \,,\, \geq, and many others) is used instead of R, in which case x < y is written in place of x R y, which is why the term "comparable" is used. Comparability with respect to R induces a canonical binary relation on P; specifically, the induced by R is defined to be the set of all pairs (x, y) \in P \times P such that x i ...

HMS Incomparable
HMS ''Incomparable'' was the name given by Admiral John "Jackie" Fisher to a proposal for a very large battlecruiser which was suggested in 1915. The design was intended to mount 20-inch guns, which would have been the largest ever mounted on a warship. Despite research into the concept, it never entered the design stage or came close to being built.Breyer, Siegfried: ''Battleships and Battlecruisers of the World, 1905-1970''. Macdonald, London, 1973. p 172. . History Fisher had long been an advocate of improving technology to maintain Britain's naval superiority. At the beginning of the 20th century he had masterminded the introduction of the dreadnought type of battleship and its faster cousin, the battlecruiser. At the start of World War I, Fisher returned to the office of First Sea Lord. Here he oversaw the development of vessels which took the battlecruiser concept to its logical extreme. Favouring an amphibious assault on the Pomeranian coast of Germany, three "lar ...

Incomparable (diamond)
Brown diamonds are the most common color variety of natural diamonds. In most mines, brown diamonds account for 15% of production. The brown color makes them less attractive to some people as gemstones, and most are used for industrial purposes. However, improved marketing programs, especially in Australia and the United States, have resulted in brown diamonds becoming valued as gemstones and even referred to as ''chocolate diamonds''. A significant portion of the output of Australian diamond mines is brown stones. There are several causes for the brown color, including irradiation treatment, nickel impurities and lattice defects associated with plastic deformation; the last is the predominant cause, especially in pure diamonds. A high-pressure high-temperature treatment can heal lattice defects and convert brown diamonds into yellow or even colorless stones. Rise in popularity Baumgold Bros., a diamond cutter and fine jewelry importer in the 1950s and 1960s, rebranded brown di ...

Incomparable (Faith Evans Album)
''Incomparable'' is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Faith Evans. It was released by Prolific Music Group, with distribution through BMG Chrysalis, on November 24, 2014 in the United States. Her third independent projects under her own label, following her sixth album ''Something About Faith'' (2010) and the compilation album ''R&B Divas (album), R&B Divas'' (2012), Evans worked a diverse roster of collaborators on the album, including 1500 or Nothin', Lamar "Mars" Edwards, Chucky Thompson, Mike City, and Ben Briggs III, among others. A concept album, ''Incomparable'' chronicles Evans' post-divorce life, using preludes, interludes, postludes, transitions and segues to the songs together. The album earned a generally mixed reception from music critics who found it well-crafted and declared it Evans' best album in a decade but felt that the material was too generic and cliché-addled. Upon its release, ''Incomparable'' became a minor commercial success. Missing ...

Incomparability Property (commutative Algebra)
In commutative algebra, a branch of mathematics, going up and going down are terms which refer to certain properties of chains of prime ideals in integral extensions. The phrase going up refers to the case when a chain can be extended by "upward inclusion", while going down refers to the case when a chain can be extended by "downward inclusion". The major results are the Cohen–Seidenberg theorems, which were proved by Irvin S. Cohen and Abraham Seidenberg. These are known as the going-up and going-down theorems. Going up and going down Let ''A'' ⊆ ''B'' be an extension of commutative rings. The going-up and going-down theorems give sufficient conditions for a chain of prime ideals in ''B'', each member of which lies over members of a longer chain of prime ideals in ''A'', to be able to be extended to the length of the chain of prime ideals in ''A''. Lying over and incomparability First, we fix some terminology. If \mathfrak and \mathfrak are prime ideals of '' ...
