In Vain (band)
In Vain is a progressive death metal band from Kristiansand in Norway. Their music can be described as melodic extreme metal, and it is mainly composed by their guitarist Johnar Håland. The band has released four albums, and toured Europe with Solefald in 2013 and My Silent Wake in 2010. In Vain has also played concerts in Norway, and also played at the Inferno Metal Festival in 2013. History ''Will the Sun Ever Rise?'' and ''Wounds'' (2003–2005) The band was formed by guitarist Johnar Haaland and vocalist Andreas Frigstad in 2003. They were shortly joined by keyboardist and vocalist Sindre Nedland. In 2004 they recorded their first release, a three track EP ''Will the Sun Ever Rise?''. The EP featured guest Joakim Sehl on bass guitar, while the drums were sampled. The following year, 2005, they released another EP named ''Wounds''. Kristiansand is a seaside resort city and municipality in Agder county, Norway. The album was recorded at the Dub Studio, in Kristiansand, between June and October 2006, except from the Organ, recorded in Kristiansand Symfoniorkesters studio in Marvika Marvika or Marvik is a neighbourhood in the city of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. ''Mantra'' is the second album by Norwegian progressive death metal band In Vain. It was released on January 18, 2010 by Indie Recordings. The album was recorded and mixed at the Dub Studio, in Kristiansand, between July 2008 and April 2009. The album was mastered in Strype Audio in May 2009. The album was met with generally positive reviews and have currently a rating of 4/5 stars on sputnikmusic. There were released at special double disc edition with the bonus track "In Remembrance", which is a re-recorded version of the track first released on the "Wounds" EP in 2005. This album does not feature Even Fuglestad as an official member, but his contributions were credited as guest. Current guitarist Kjetil D. Pedersen was also featured as a guest on this album. Vreid
Vreid is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 2004 after the breakup of Windir following the death of lead singer and founder Valfar. The remaining members along with new guitarist Ese formed Vreid. The band's name is an archaic Norwegian word meaning "Wrath". Biography Hváll formed a new band consisting of the three Windir members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums), Sture (vocals/guitar) and a new guitarist named Ese. Ese has been a close friend of the Vreid members for years, and he was co-engineer on Windir’s ''Likferd'' album. Hváll wrote most of the material for the debut album entitled '' Kraft''. The lyrics are in both Norwegian and English. ''Kraft'' was released by Tabu Records in 2004. Vreid’s second album, ''Pitch Black Brigade'', was also released by Tabu Records, on 27 March 2006.
