''In the Mix'' is a 2005 American romantic crime-comedy-drama film starring R&B/ pop singer Usher. It was released in the United States on November 23, 2005, the film being targeted at the traditionally large Thanksgiving weekend audience. Plot When New York’s hottest night club disc jockey, Darrell Williams is asked to DJ a party for his friend Frankie Jr's mob boss father Frank, Darrell becomes acquainted with Frank's beautiful daughter Dolly. Dolly is engaged to Chad, who her father wants her to marry. When Dolly and Darrell fall in love, Darrell is put in danger as both Frank's mob and Darrell's ex-girlfriend Cherise attempt to intervene. Darrell and Dolly are later kidnapped and held hostage by Frank's associate Jackie. Frank, Frankie Jr. and Busta rescue Darrell and Dolly and take out Jackie with the help of Darrell's best friend Busta. In 1981 producer Frank Farian created a thirteen-minute medley in the style of Stars on 45 called "6 Years of Boney M. Hits (Boney M. on 45)" which was issued as both A- and B-side singles in certain territories - in the UK the medley was the B-side of ''Boonoonoonoos'' 12" single "We Kill The World (Don't Kill The World)", in Germany the edited 7" version appeared as the B-side of '' Christmas Album'' single "Little Drummer Boy" and the longer version as a separate A-side 12" release in early 1982. "In the Mix" is a song by American singer and songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on September 17, 2019 as the official theme song of the American TV series ''Mixed-ish'', that premiered on September 24, 2019 on ABC. The song's music was composed by Carey along with songwriter-producer Daniel Moore II, and the lyrics and melody were written by Carey. It was also co-produced by Carey and Moore. The accompanying music video was released the same day as the single's release, featuring clips from ''Mixed-ish'', as well as footage of Carey and her children in the recording studio. Background and release On August 5, 2019, Carey confirmed that she will release "In the Mix", serving as the series' theme song. The song was written and recorded around July and August of that year.
