''In the Belly of the Dragon'' (french: Dans le ventre du dragon) is a Canadian comedy science fiction film, directed by Yves Simoneau and released in 1989. The film stars David La Haye as Lou, an aimless slacker who is dissatisfied with his job distributing flyers around the city, and signs up to be a drug testing subject for two mysterious scientists (Monique Mercure and Marie Tifo); meanwhile, his delivery colleagues Steve (Rémy Girard) and Bozo ( Michel Côté) must team up to find and rescue him before the medical experiments go horribly wrong. The cast also includes Andrée Lachapelle, Pierre Curzi, Jean-Louis Millette, Roy Dupuis, Angèle Coutu, Suzanne Champagne and Pierrette Robitaille. Yves Simoneau (; born October 28, 1955) is a Canadian film and television director. Simoneau was born in Quebec City, Quebec. Recognition His acclaimed 1986 crime drama '' Intimate Power (Pouvoir intime)'' garnered multiple Genie Awards nominations including best direction at the 8th Genie Awards. Pierre Curzi
Pierre Curzi (born February 11, 1946 in Montreal, Quebec) is an actor, screenwriter and politician in Quebec. He is a former Member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA) for the riding of Borduas in the Montérégie region south of Montreal. Elected under the Parti Québécois (PQ) banner, he later sat as an independent. Politics Curzi entered politics when he announced his candidacy for the riding of Borduas in the 2007 provincial elections, following the retirement of Jean-Pierre Charbonneau. He defeated the Action démocratique du Québec's Claude Gauthier by over 2,000 votes. He was later named the PQ critic for culture, communications and language. Genie Award
The Genie Awards were given out annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to recognize the best of Canadian cinema from 1980–2012. They succeeded the Canadian Film Awards (1949–1978; also known as the "Etrog Awards," for sculptor Sorel Etrog, who designed the statuette). Genie Award candidates were selected from submissions made by the owners of Canadian films or their representatives, based on the criteria laid out in the ''Genie Rules and Regulations'' booklet which is distributed to Academy members and industry members.
