''In Parts Assembled Solely'' is the fourth EP by Spahn Ranch, released on May 21, 1996, by Cleopatra Records. It comprises six remixes and four live versions of tracks from the band's 1995 album '' The Coiled One''. Reception In his review of ''In Parts Assembled Solely'', Jon Worley of Aiding & Abetting noted that "the only remix that outdoes the original is the first track" and "the live tracks prove that Spahn Ranch can play live, I guess, but they are completely redundant." CMJ New Music Monthly listed the EP as the top "Family Album", which offers a list of releases to listen to with one's relatives. ''Sonic Boom'' pointed to the live tracks as being the highlight of the album, saying "the sound quality isn't all that great, yet the live tracks have a raw emotional context to them which they lack in the studio versions." Timothy Wiles, known by the stage name Ãœberzone, is an electronic musician originally from Anaheim, California. He has also been known as Q, named after the popular character in the James Bond series. Wiles is well known for concocting interesting gizmos and gadgets. He made a hobby out of collecting electronic music gear since his early teen years, which inspired his nickname. He has been an avid producer on the electronic music and breakbeat scenes since the mid-1990s, playing at early raves. His first show as Ãœberzone was for DJ Sharpe at the Edge in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. David Parkinson (drummer)
Christian Death is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles County, California, in 1979 by Rozz Williams. With major line-up changes over the years, Christian Death has retained "a relentlessly confrontational stand against organized religion and conventional morality". Screams for Tina was an American death rock and gothic rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985 by Warren Mansfield (vocals, bass, keyboards) and Marvin Rinnig (guitar). Spahn Ranch was an American electro-industrial group from Los Angeles. Active from 1992 to 2000, the band played a subgenre of industrial music with its fusion of electronic dance, industrial and gothic music. History The band was formed in 1992 in Los Angeles by Matt Green and his New York–based collaborator, Rob Morton. They collectively used the funds they had saved up to jump-start the band. Rob Morton had been Matt Green's musical partner for the 5 years prior. A sampler is an electronic or digital musical instrument which uses sound recordings (or " samples") of real instrument sounds (e.g., a piano, violin, trumpet, or other synthesizer), excerpts from recorded songs (e.g., a five-second bass guitar riff from a funk song) or found sounds (e.g., sirens and ocean waves).
