In Ginocchio Da Te
"In ginocchio da te" () is a 1964 Italian song composed by Franco Migliacci (lyrics) and Bruno Zambrini (music), arranged by Ennio Morricone and performed by Gianni Morandi. Background Morandi initially didn't want to record the song, considering it too much different from his previous repertoire, which consisted of lighter and more rhythmic songs. The song eventually won the Cantagiro festival and was a massive success, staying on the top of the Italian hit parade for a total of 17 weeks and being awarded music recording sales certification, gold disc as it was certified as having sold over one million copies. It also marked a turning point in Morandi's career, who since then embraced a more adult and romantic repertoire. Gianni Morandi (; born 11 December 1944) is an Italian pop singer, actor and entertainer. Early life Gian Luigi Morandi was born in a little village called Monghidoro on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. His father Renato was active within the Italian Communist Party and Gianni used to help him sell the party newspapers. At an early age Morandi worked as a shoe-shiner, cobbler and as a vendor of sweets in the village's only cinema. His vocal abilities led him to a number of small gigs, some of which were during the Communist Party's activities. Career He made his debut in 1962 and quickly placed high at or won a number of Italian popular song festivals, including the ''Canzonissima'' festival in 1969.
