In A Free Land
"In A Free Land" is a song written by Bob Mould and performed by his band Hüsker Dü and released as a single in 1982. It was the band's second single. The sound is still hardcore punk, but it does have a hint of their future melodic style, particularly on the title track. The single's pressing was limited to 2,500 copies upon its release, along with an unknown number that contained a lyric insert. The three tracks, in remixed form (a necessity since the original two-track master was lost by the pressing plant hired by New Alliance), appear on the '' Everything Falls Apart and More'' CD. The loss of the original two-track master to this EP may have led to a popular rumor that the stereo master to ''Everything Falls Apart'' itself had been lost. The title track was covered by the New Jersey hardcore band Ensign on their 2003 album ''Love the Music, Hate the Kids''. In 2009, at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in New York City, Mould teamed up with members of No Age to perf ...

Hüsker Dü
Hüsker Dü () was an American punk rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist/vocalist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart. They first gained notability as a hardcore punk band, and later crossed over into alternative rock. Mould and Hart were the band's principal songwriters, with Hart's higher-pitched vocals and Mould's baritone taking the lead in alternating songs. The band issued their debut studio album ''Everything Falls Apart'' on Reflex Records in 1983 and subsequently released three LPs and an EP on the independent label SST Records, including the critically acclaimed '' Zen Arcade'' in 1984. Hüsker Dü signed to major label Warner Bros. Records in 1986 to release their final two studio albums. They disbanded in January 1988. Mould later released two solo albums before forming Sugar in the early 1990s, while Hart released a solo album on SST and later formed Nova Mob. Aft ...

All Tomorrow's Parties Festival
All Tomorrow's Parties was an organisation based in London that promoted music festivals, concerts and records throughout the world for over ten years. It was founded by Barry Hogan in 2001 in preparation for the first All Tomorrow's Parties Festival, the line-up of which was picked by Mogwai and took place at Pontins, Camber Sands, England. Named after the song " All Tomorrow's Parties" by the Velvet Underground, the festival exhibited a tendency towards post-rock, indie rock, avant-garde music, and underground hip hop, along with more traditional rock fare presented in smaller venues than typical stadium performances. It was at first a sponsorship-free festival where the organisers and artists stay in the same accommodation as the fans. It claimed to set itself apart from festivals like Reading or Glastonbury by staying intimate, non-corporate and fan-friendly. Another difference was the line-ups being chosen by significant bands or artists, resulting in unorthodox events ...

Personnel for this recording was different from the previous release, with a different guitarist and drummer. The rushed production of ...
