Imperial Arena or Imperial Ballroom is a multipurpose venue used as a ballroom, convention space, and a basketball arena located at Atlantis Paradise Island. It's most known for being the host of the Battle 4 Atlantis, a men's and women's early-season college basketball tournament that takes place in late November, around Thanksgiving. Basketball Although the ballroom opened in November 2007, it did undergo transformation until November 2011 when the inaugural Battle 4 Atlantis was played. The Ballroom is 50,000 square feet, has dimensions of 289' x 165' and has a 26' ceiling, making it one of the lowest ceilings for a college basketball venue. Reception NC State Wolfpack men's basketball, NC State head coach, Kevin Keatts compared the arena and its 3,500-seat capacity to playing in a smaller Division I venue where fans are packed into a more intimate environment. Paradise Island is an island in The Bahamas formerly known as Hog Island. The island, with an area of (2.8 km2/1.1 sq mi), is located just off the shore of the city of Nassau, which is itself located on the northern edge of the island of New Providence. It is best known for the sprawling resort Atlantis with its extensive water park rides, pools, beach, restaurants, walk-in aquarium and casinos. Paradise Island is connected to the island of New Providence by two bridges that cross Nassau Harbour. The first was built in 1966 by Resorts International, and the second in the late 1990s. Recent history Paradise Island Airport A small airstrip existed on the island from 1989 to 1999 to serve the resort. Kevin Keatts
Kevin Andre Keatts (born July 28, 1972) is an American college basketball coach. He is the current men's head coach at North Carolina State University. Early life and playing career Keatts grew up as an only child in Lynchburg, Virginia. His father was a masonry instructor at Amherst County High School, and Keatts worked as his apprentice on the weekends. He attended Heritage High School and played point guard on their basketball team as well as quarterback on their football team. As starting quarterback, Keatts led the football team to be ranked the best in the state, losing only one game his entire career. He played basketball for Ferrum College, averaging 13.3 points per game by his senior year. Coaching career Keatts began his coaching career as an assistant at Southwestern Michigan College for the 1996–97 season. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three.
