''Immersed in the Flames of Mankind'' is an independently released, full-length album by the band the Funeral Pyre. This is a follow-up to the EP, ''October''. Despite being a self-recorded album, the sound quality was perceived as very professional, for an unsigned and unsupported band. It has been praised for its use of blast beats and the distinction of its keyboard. All the artwork is credited to Tony Koehl. All three of the tracks from their previous EP, ''October'', "A Gradual Awakening", "World of Vengeance" and "Isengard Unleashed", had been rerecorded for this album. The Funeral Pyre
The Funeral Pyre was an American blackened death metal band from La Habra, California. The band released four studio albums and various shorter works before playing their last advertised show in 2012. History The band was formed in La Habra, California, in 2001 by guitarist James Joyce, keyboardist Daniella Jones, vocalist John Strachan, drummer Alex Hernandez, and bassist Adam Campbell, initially adopting the name Envilent. They participated in the underground extreme music scenes across L.A. and Orange counties. They have acclaim amongst metal internet press outlets for their Swedish-style melody, ethereal keyboards, and blackened vocals. Melodic Death Metal
Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. October EP
''October'' (also called ''My Final Autumn'') is a 2003 EP released by The Funeral Pyre. It was shortly before this album was recorded and released that the band decided to change its name from 'Envilent' to 'The Funeral Pyre'. Though only a few reviews were made, it was praised for its work, despite being mostly a demo. Although it was said that "there is not much here that can make it stand apart," many said its piano intro and Spanish guitar outro were a very good build on the album. It was also said that it was recorded in only two days. Only two of the songs from this album, "A Gradual Awakening" and "Isengard Unleashed", were available for download from the band's then official site. The Nature Of Betrayal
''The Nature Of Betrayal'' is the second album release by the band The Funeral Pyre. Originally released by Creator Destructor Records, a Bay Area label, it had seen great success during its debut in late 2006. Despite being unsigned at the particular time, the band had scheduled over 100 shows in the Bay area alone, and was praised for the mood that they could convey using both aggressive Death metal, death/black metal sounds, and the harmonies of a keyboard. It was also praised for its sound and songwriting, despite the band's young age. This album has been heavily praised for its fuse of both black metal and death metal and the atmosphere created by keyboardist Daniella Jones' synthesizers, and drummer Alex Hernandez's use of blast beats throughout the album. A blast beat is a type of drum beat that originated in hardcore punk and grindcore, and is often associated with certain styles of extreme metal, namely black metal and death metal,Adam MacGregor, ''PCP Torpedo'' by Agoraphobic Nosebleed review, ''Dusted'', 11 June 2006 Access date: 2 October 2008. Electric Piano
An electric piano is a musical instrument which produces sounds when a performer presses the keys of a piano-style musical keyboard. Pressing keys causes mechanical hammers to strike metal strings, metal reeds or wire tines, leading to vibrations which are converted into electrical signals by magnetic pickups, which are then connected to an instrument amplifier and loudspeaker to make a sound loud enough for the performer and audience to hear.
