Imerio Massignan
Imerio Massignan (born 2 January 1937) is an Italian former professional road cyclist. A pure climber, he debuted as professional in the 1959 Giro d'Italia, classifying 5th overall. This was followed by a series of good placements in the subsequent editions, including a 2nd overall in the 1962 Giro behind Franco Balmamion. At the Tour de France he won the Mountains classification in 1960 and 1961, when he also finished 4th overall. In the latter season he also obtained a second place in the Giro di Lombardia. Massignan retired in 1969. Altavilla Vicentina is a town and '' comune'' in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, northern Italy. It is located southwest of Vicenza. The Giro di Lombardia ( en, Tour of Lombardy), officially ''Il Lombardia'', is a cycling race in Lombardy, Italy. It is traditionally the last of the five 'Monuments' of the season, considered to be one of the most prestigious one-day events in cycling, and one of the last events on the UCI World Tour calendar. Nicknamed the ''Classica delle foglie morte'' ("the Classic of the falling (dead) leaves"), it is the most important Autumn Classic in cycling. The 1965 Giro d'Italia was the 48th running of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The Giro started in San Marino, on 15 May, with a stage and concluded in Florence, on 6 June, with a leg. The 1962 Tour de France was the 49th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. The race consisted of 22 stages, including two split stages, starting in Nancy on 24 June and finishing at the Parc des Princes in Paris on 15 July.
