Im Winter Ein Jahr
''A Year Ago in Winter'' (german: Im Winter ein Jahr) is a 2008 German drama film directed by Caroline Link. It is based on the novel ''Aftermath'' by American author Scott Campbell, telling the story of a "complicated family situation" after the unexpected and unexplained suicide of a young man. It deals with the consequences of overly long suppressed mourning. The film score was composed by Niki Reiser, arranged, directed and produced by Martin Stock. The film was premiered at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, and its theatrical release was on 13 November 2008. The fotorealistic painting featured in the film was made by the Munich artist Florian Sussmayr. Caroline Link
Caroline Link (born 2 June 1964) is a German film director and screenwriter. Life and work Caroline Link is the daughter of Jürgen and Ilse Link. From 1986 to 1990 she studied at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), and then worked as an assistant director and script writer. Link's early work includes the short film ''Bunte Blumen'', from 1988. She was a co-director on the documentary film ''Das Glück zum Anfassen'' (1989). For Bavaria Film, she wrote two screenplays to the detective series ''Der Fahnder'' (''The Investigators''). Caroline Link grew up in a small town outside of Frankfurt, Germany in 1968. Despite her family giving her a strong moral compass, they were a "non intellectual and non artistic family." Mišel Matičević
Mišel Matičević (, born 22 April 1970) is a German film, television and theater actor of Croatian descent. Early life and education Matičević was born in West Berlin to Croatian parents who were guest workers in West Germany. Following his parents' divorce, he lived with his mother in Berlin-Spandau. He was initially a trouble maker in childhood and would get in fistfights at school. He refused to join the school's theater group, feeling it was only for kids who were trying to "suck up" to the teachers. However, Matičević saw the 1983 film ''Danton'' with Gérard Depardieu and was inspired by Depardieu's performance to become an actor. Jacques Rivette
Jacques Rivette (; 1 March 1928 – 29 January 2016) was a French film director and film critic most commonly associated with the French New Wave and the film magazine ''Cahiers du Cinéma''. He made twenty-nine films, including ''L'amour fou'' (1969), ''Out 1'' (1971), '' Celine and Julie Go Boating'' (1974), and ''La Belle Noiseuse'' (1991). ''La Belle Noiseuse'' (, ) is a 1991 drama film directed by Jacques Rivette and starring Michel Piccoli, Jane Birkin and Emmanuelle Béart.
