Illuminato Da Rieti
Illuminatus of Arce ( it, Illuminato dell'Arce) or Illuminatus of Rieti (''Illuminato da Rieti'') was an earlier follower of Francis of Assisi. Illuminatus was born around 1190, probably in Rocca Antica or Rocca Sinibalda, villages southwest of Rieti, or possibly in the region of Arce in the plain around Assisi. In 1219, during the Fifth Crusade, he accompanied Francis on his mission to the court of al-Kāmil, sultan of Egypt. In 1224, he was the first to spot the stigmata on Francis at La Verna. He convinced Francis to publicize the miracle. He was living at Greccio in 1246. He is reported to have died either in 1260–1262 or in 1266. While earlier sources confirm that Francis had a companion in 1219, Bonaventure, in his ''Legenda maior'' (), is the first to name him: "a brother named Illuminatus, a virtuous and enlightened man" (''Illuminato nomine, viro utique luminis et virtutis''). It has been speculated that Illuminatus was one of Bonaventure's informants. A letter ap ...

Illuminato Da Chieti
Illuminato da Chieti ( ? – 1280×1282), in Latin Illuminatus de Theate, was a Franciscan friar who served as the bishop of Assisi from 1274 until his death. Illuminato was born at Chieti in the early thirteenth century. Some sources placing his birth around 1200, but this would make him an unusually old man when first elected bishop. He has sometimes been misidentified with Illuminato da Rieti, the companion of Francis of Assisi, but the two were certainly not the same. Likewise, he is not the same person as the Illuminato who, born blind and cured by Francis, entered the Franciscan order in gratitude, as told by Thomas of Celano, who makes clear that this person was certainly already dead by 1254. Nor is he to be identified with a certain Friar Alluminato, born Accarino della Rocca, who had an adult son named Enrico in October 1238. It is unknown when Illuminato entered the Franciscan order. According to Salimbene de Adam, he worked in the convent of Assis ...

Filippo Illuminato
Filippo Illuminato (21 August 193028 September 1943) was an Italian partisan who died attacking Nazi German troops during the Four days of Naples in World War II. He was posthumously awarded the Gold Medal of Military Valour, Italy's highest award for gallantry. On 3 September 1943, the Allies and the Kingdom of Italy signed the Armistice of Cassibile. On 8 September, it became publicly known, and Nazi Germany reacted by attacking Italy, their former Axis ally. On 13 September, the Nazi military governor of Naples ordered disarmament, and a curfew, and threatened savage retaliation for any attack on his men. On 26 September, the city rose in insurrection (the Four days of Naples). When the Allies entered Naples on 1 October, the Nazis had gone. Illuminato came from a poor Neapolitan family. After finishing elementary school, he took a job as an apprentice mechanic in a vehicle repair shop. His Gold Medal citation reads: An English translation: His name is commemorated in a st ...
