''Illegimitation'' is a compilation album released by German Technical Death Metal band Obscura. It was independently released by the band via crowdfunding. Obscura (band)
Obscura is a German technical death metal band from Landshut, founded by guitarist and vocalist Steffen Kummerer in 2002. The band have released six studio albums, a compilation album and twelve music videos since its formation. Their latest album '' A Valediction'' was released on 19 November 2021 via Nuclear Blast. History ''Illegimitation'' (2002–2003) Obscura was formed in late 2002 by guitarist Steffen Kummerer, drummer Jonas Baumgartl, guitarist Armin Seitz and bassist/vocalist Martin Ketzer with the name Illegimitation. Performing local shows, the band booked their own concept tour in Bavaria called "Blasting Bavaria Tour" in 2003, followed by editions in 2004, 2005 and 2007. The band recorded their first and only self titled demo in November 2003 with producer V.Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence, Dark Fortress). Steffen Kummerer
Steffen Kummerer (born 1 June 1985) is a German guitarist and vocalist. He is the leader, main songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist of the death metal band Obscura, as well as the black metal band Thulcandra. Since 2012, he has been a member of the official tribute band Death to All. Kummerer's Ran custom guitar shape have become a signature shape unique to him and his band Obscura. Biography Early life and education Steffen Kummerer was born in Chemnitz (Karl-Marx-Stadt then) on 1 June 1985. He started playing piano at the age of nine and received a scholarship for gifted musicians one year later. Hannes Grossmann
Hannes Grossmann (born 8 September 1982) is a German drummer who plays for the German progressive band Alkaloid. He was also the drummer during Necrophagist's ''Epitaph'' era and played with Obscura (band), Obscura. Biography Early life Hannes Grossmann was born on September 8, 1982 in Bayreuth. He started playing the piano at the age of 8 and later moved on to what was to be his main instrument, the drum kit, at age 10. He lives in Nuremberg. Professional career In 2003 Hannes Grossmann began to play drums in the technical death metal band Necrophagist and later recorded drums for the album ''Epitaph (Necrophagist album), Epitaph'' in 2004 which features complex polyrhythmic drumming and blastbeats of up to 240 bpm. Linus Klausenitzer
Linus Klausenitzer is a German bass player, best known for being a former bassist for the German progressive death metal band Obscura. He also plays bass in a German/Dutch progressive death metal band Noneuclid, as well as progressive death metal project Alkaloid along with current and former members of both Obscura and Noneuclid. Biography At the age of 19, Klausenitzer attended the Music College in Regensburg, and afterwards made a degree at Hamburg Music and Art University. After finishing studies, he did a lot of session work in different genres, and in the meantime, was in a number of different German bands, Fall of Serenity being the most well-known one. He was also a member of Noneuclid, a German/Dutch progressive death metal band. Omnivium
''Omnivium'' is the third studio album released by German death metal band Obscura, and the second album of Obscura's four album concept. The album was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer Victor Bullok (also known as V.Santura). It was released by Relapse Records on 29 March 2011. The album is based on Friedrich Schelling's ''Clara: or On Nature's Connection to the Spirit World'' (1810). Obscura released the track "Septuagint" to the public on 19 January 2011. The second song from ''Omnivium'', "Vortex Omnivium", was released to the public on 24 February 2011. The limited edition album included a bonus track, a cover of Cacophony's "Concerto", an embroidered Obscura patch, a guitar pick, and an album cover sticker. Piece Of Time
''Piece of Time'' is the debut album by American technical death metal band Atheist (band), Atheist, recorded in 1988 but not released officially until 1990. This was because the label that Atheist had initially signed with, Mean Machine Records, was going bankrupt, and the band had to search for another label. They eventually signed with UK label Active Records, who released their album in Europe soon after. The album was not released in the US for another six months, until Metal Blade Records finally arranged a licensing deal with Active Records and released it to the American market in November 1990. ''Piece of Time'' is the only Atheist album to feature bassist Roger Patterson (bassist), Roger Patterson, although he wrote much of the bass on ''Unquestionable Presence''. Christian Münzner
Christian Münzner (born 21 August 1981) is a German guitarist who plays for the bands Obscura and Alkaloid. He is also known for playing for the technical death metal band Necrophagist from 2002 until 2006, appearing on their 2004 release ''Epitaph''. As well as Necrophagist, Münzner played in Defeated Sanity from 1999 to 2002 and Obscura from 2008 to 2014, after which he left to co-found the extreme progressive metal supergroup Alkaloid. He rejoined Obscura in 2020. In addition to being a prolific solo artist who has released three solo albums, Münzner is also a member of Ron Jarzombek's musical venture Terrestrial Exiled and was featured on Hannes Grossmann's solo album. Sean Reinert (May 27, 1971 – January 24, 2020) was an American musician. He was the drummer for the rock band Æon Spoke and the drummer and founding member of the progressive metal band Cynic (band), Cynic until leaving the band in September 2015. Reinert credited Kenny Clarke, John Bonham, Neil Peart, Gary Husband and Vinnie Colaiuta as being important influences during his formative years. ''Focus'' is the debut studio album by American metal band Cynic, released September 14, 1993 through Roadrunner Records. A remastered version of the album was released in 2004. Overview and musical approach After years of being hailed as a promising act in Florida's death metal scene, Cynic recorded ''Focus''. The result was an album combining their love of death metal with other influences, notably jazz. Instead of choosing the brutal and hard-hitting approach to metal like most of their contemporaries, ''Focus'' takes an experimental stance to music. ''The Sound of Perseverance'' is the seventh and final studio album by American death metal band Death, released on August 31, 1998, by Nuclear Blast. The album features a whole new lineup of members except Chuck Schuldiner; it is the only album to feature guitarist Shannon Hamm, drummer Richard Christy, and bassist Scott Clendenin.
