Iliya Argirov
Iliya Argirov ( bg, Илия Аргиров) (March 19, 1931 – November 17, 2012) was a prominent Bulgarian folk singer from the Macedonian folklore region and one of the symbols of the Bulgarian folklore music. Biography The first appearances of Iliya Argirov are as a young performer of popular songs from Pirin region. Since 1950 he is on the professional folklore music scene in the Macedonian songs Ensemble "Gotse Delchev". Later he becomes the soloist of the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances "Pirin" in Blagoevgrad, where he works 35 years and participates in concerts in over 50 countries worldwide. During his 50-year career Iliya Argirov has more than 200 recorded songs, 7 albums and numerous participations in compilations of Bulgarian folklore music. Pirin Folk Ensemble
The Pirin Folk Ensemble ( bg, Фолклорен ансамбъл „Пирин“, ''Folkloren ansambal „Pirin“'') (also Pirin Folk Song and Dances State Ensemble) is a Bulgarian performance group. It consists of a folk orchestra, a dance troupe, and a women's choir. The ensemble strives to preserve Bulgarian culture by performing traditional music and dance from throughout Bulgaria. It has performed over 6500 concerts in 50 different countries, and produced numerous LPs, CDs, videos, and songbooks. Epizod
Epizod (Bulgarian: Епизод) is a Bulgarian heavy metal band formed in 1983 in Sofia. The first songs of the band were inspired by the French poet François Villon. Epizod are famous in Bulgaria for their concerts which include theatre, an Orthodox church choir, and an ensemble for Bulgarian folk songs and dances. History 1980s–1993 Since 1983 different musicians from the 'Emil Shekerdzhiyski' culture club in Sofia had played different music styles under the name 'Epizod. Dimmi Argus is heavy metal band, created in 2007 by Dimmi Argus (birth name Dimitar Argirov), a Bulgarian singer, songwriter and producer, known for being the lead singer of the Bulgarian rock band Epizod. Balkanton
Balkanton ( bg, Балкантон) was a state-owned record manufacturing company in Bulgaria founded in 1952. Many of the produced records were, or still are available in the countries of the former Soviet Bloc. Balkanton's plant in Sofia was equipped for all aspects of record manufacturing from recording the masters and pressing the vinyl records to printing the cover. Multi-channel sound recording was introduced in 1972 with equipment purchased from England. In 1982 Balkanton received its own digital recording equipment. By the mid-1980s annual LP production reached 9 million units. The company mainly produced LPs and from 1980 it started to manufacture cassettes. Being the only record company in Bulgaria during four decades, Balkanton accumulated a vast library of performances of folk, classical, Bulgarian and foreign popular music, theater, poetry and more.
