Ilana Karaszyk (also "Karashik"; אילנה קרשיק; born July 1, 1938) is an Israeli former Olympic runner and long jumper. In 1960 she was the Israeli Women's Champion in the 200 metre run and in the long jump. Karaszyk was born in Poland, and is Jewish. Ilana Adir (-Kamarshik; אילנה אדיר-קמרשיק; born June 28, 1941) is an Israeli former Olympic sprinter, and former Israeli Women's Champion in the 100 metre sprint. She was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and is Jewish. Sprinting career Her personal best in the 100 metres was 12.3 in 1960. 200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps".
