''Il disertore'' (also known as ''The Deserter'') is a 1983 Italian war drama film written and directed by Giuliana Berlinguer. It is based on the novel with the same name by Giuseppe Dessì. It was entered into the competition at the 40th edition of the Venice Film Festival. Giuliana Berlinguer (; 23 November 1933 – 15 September 2014) was an Italian director, screenwriter, and novelist. Life and career Born in Mantua, Berlinguer studied at the Silvio d’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she graduated in stage direction.Aldo Grasso, Massimo Scaglioni. ''La Stampa'' (meaning ''The Press'' in English) is an Italian daily newspaper published in Turin, Italy. It is distributed in Italy and other European nations. It is one of the oldest newspapers in Italy. History and profile The paper was founded by Vittorio Bersezio, a journalist and novelist, in February 1867 with the name ''Gazzetta Piemontese''. In 1895, the newspaper was bought (and by then edited) by Alfredo Frassati (father of Pier Giorgio Frassati), who gave it its current name and a national perspective. Mattia Sbragia (born 17 April 1952) is an Italian character actor. Biography The son of the actor and stage director Giancarlo, Sbragia has been performing in films, on television, and in the theater for almost thirty years. He made his motion picture debut in 1974, in Franco Rossetti's ''Nipoti Miei Diletti'' (1974). Omero Antonutti (3 August 1935 – 5 November 2019) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Basiliano, in the province of Udine (in the Northeastern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia), after having worked in shipyards Antonutti embraced the acting career, working mainly on stage, especially at the Teatro Stabile di Trieste and at the Teatro Stabile di Genova, in which he often worked under Luigi Squarzina. He made his film debut in the 1966 film ''Pleasant Nights'' starring Vittorio Gassman, Gina Lollobrigida and Ugo Tognazzi. His most notable performance was in the Taviani brothers' acclaimed film ''Padre Padrone''. In Spain, he worked with Víctor Erice in ''El Sur'', and Carlos Saura in ''El Dorado''. Massimo Felisatti (12 May 1932 – 7 September 2016) was an Italian novelist, essayist, screenwriter, and director. Biography Born in Ferrara, Felisatti graduated in Modern Letters, and then he started collaborating with some local newspapers, also directing the cultural magazine ''Ferrara''.
