Ikogosi Warm Springs
The Ikogosi Warm Springs is a tourist attraction located at Ikogosi, a town in Ekiti State, southwestern Nigeria. Flowing abreast the warm spring is another cold spring which meets the warm spring at a confluence, each maintaining its thermal properties. These attributes make the spring a tourist attraction in Nigeria. Research suggested that the warm spring has a temperature of about 70°C at the source and 37°C at the confluence. Background and history of the Ikogosi Warm Springs (1952-1977) In 1952, Southern Baptist missionary, Rev. John S. McGee, from his mission base in the nearby Ekiti town of Igede, went to the source of the hot and cold springs, about which he had heard from the Ikogosi people. Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls
Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls (also known as Olumirin waterfalls) is located in Erin-Ijesha. It is a tourist attraction located in Oriade local government area, Osun State, Nigeria. The waterfalls were discovered in 1140 AD by one of the daughters of Oduduwa. However, according to The Nation,"Olumirin waterfall was discovered by hunters in 1140 AD". Another source has it that the tourist site was discovered by a woman called Akinla, founder of Erin-Ijesha town and a granddaughter of Oduduwa, during the migration of Ife people to Erin- Ijesa. The name Olumirin was given to the tourist attraction by Akinla, ehich mean (oluwa mirin - another god). The fall features seven levels, on top of which the village Abake is located. Daniel Akomolafe Anirare Aladesanmi II OBE CFR (1902 – 7 January 1983) was a Yoruba Oba who reigned as Ewi of Ado Ekiti in Nigeria from 1937 until 1983. Early life Aladesanmi was born in 1902 to Olori Ifalete and Oba Ajimudaoro Aladesanmi I, who had reigned as Ewi of Ado Ekiti between 1892 and 1910. He was an Ekiti, a subgroup of the Yoruba people. He attended Saint Andrews College in Oyo from 1924 until 1928. While at Saint Andrews he was school prefect and president of the Ekiti Parapo Society. He worked as a higher grade officer for the railway in 1933. Reign Aladesanmi ascended the throne, becoming Ewi of Ado Ekiti, on 18 June 1937.
