The Netherlands was represented by Maywood, with the song "Ik wil alles met je delen", at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Zagreb on 5 May. Maywood (band)
Maywood was a Dutch singing duo consisting of sisters Aaltje ("Alie") and Doetje ("Edith") de Vries. They each took on a stage name for the project: Alie, a blonde, (songwriting, background and harmony vocals, keyboards) became "Alice May" and the dark-haired Edith (lead vocals) became "Caren Wood". The duo were active as recording artists between 1978 and 1992, and their best known songs are "Late At Night" (a #1 hit in the Netherlands, and a significant chart hit in several other nations), "Give Me Back My Love", and "Rio". All but one of their singles were written solely by Alice May; "Kom In Mijn Armen", a #33 hit from 1989, was co-written by May and Aad Klaris. 1990 Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest 1990 was the 35th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Zagreb, SR Croatia, Yugoslavia, following the country's victory at the with the song " Rock Me" by Riva. It was the only time Yugoslavia hosted the contest. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcasters Yugoslav Radio Television (JRT) and Radiotelevision Zagreb (RTZ), the contest was held at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on 5 May 1990 and was hosted by Croatian television presenters Helga Vlahović and Oliver Mlakar. It was the first Eurovision Song Contest held in the Balkans as well as the first and only contest held in a communist or socialist state. Georgie Davis (stage name Kees Rietveld; born 1969 in The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch singer, who was one of the first participants of the Soundmixshow in 1985. John Ewbank (composer)
John Ewbank (born 6 December 1968) is a British-born Dutch composer, lyricist and record producer. He was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire; he and his family moved with the latter to the Netherlands when he was one year old. He wrote/produced a record number of twenty #1 Dutch Top 40 hit singles, of which fourteen were for Marco Borsato, for whom he has been producing and writing since 1994. They sold over four million albums together in the Benelux. Other artists Ewbank worked with include Ferry Corsten, Trijntje Oosterhuis, VanVelzen, Esmée Denters, Gordon, Paul de Leeuw, Rob de Nijs, Nikki Kerkhof, Hero, Maud Mulder, and Tim Immers. Cornelis Willem "Gordon" Heuckeroth (; born 6 July 1968), known simply as Gordon, is a Dutch singer and television personality. Internationally, he is best known for his membership of the supergroup the Toppers, which represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song " Shine". He left the group in 2011. Career In 1990, Heuckeroth came third in the ''Nationaal Songfestival''. The World Forum (originally known as Nederlands Congresgebouw and formerly Nederlands Congres Centrum and World Forum Convention Center) is a concert venue and convention centre in The Hague, Netherlands, near the buildings of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and one of the administrative offices of the International Baccalaureate. Harry van Hoof (born 16 March 1943) is a Dutch conductor, composer and music arranger. Van Hoof has written many successful productions to his name already, he has his own production company and he had his first success as an arranger with "Sofie" by Johnny Lion.
