Ihud Bnei Kafr Qara ( he, איחוד בני כפר קרע), ( ar, اتحاد أبناء كفرقرع) is an Israeli football club based in Kafr Qara. The club is the result of the merger of two local rivals, Hapoel Kafr Qara and Maccabi Kafr Qara. They are currently in Liga Bet North B division. History The club was founded in 2014 as the result of the merger of Hapoel Kafr Qara, which finished the 2013–14 season in the eighth place of Liga Gimel Jezreel division, and Maccabi Kafr Qara, which finished the 2013–14 season in the fifth place of Liga Bet North B division. The 2014–15 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Kafr Kanna (champions of the North A division), Hapoel Baqa al-Gharbiyye (champions of the North B division), Hapoel Bik'at HaYarden (champions of the South A division) and Bnei Eilat (champions of the South B division) win the title and promotion to Liga Alef. The clubs ranked 2nd to 5th in each division entered a promotion play-off, at the end of which, Hapoel Iksal (from the North section) and Hapoel Kiryat Ono (from the South section) met the teams ranked 14th in Liga Alef. Hapoel Iksal won their tie and was promoted to Liga Alef as well, while Hapoel Kiryat Ono lost and remained in Liga Bet. The 2010–11 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Umm al-Fahm (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Jerusalem (champions of the South Division) win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit. Liga Alef ( he, ליגה א', , League A) is the third tier of the Israeli football league system. It is divided into two regional divisions, north and south. History League football began in Israel in 1949–50, a year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence. However, the financial and security crises gripping the young nation caused the 1950–51 season to be abandoned before it had started. When football resumed in 1951–52, the new top division went by the name of Liga Alef. The 1952–53 season was also not played, and Liga Alef resumed in 1953–54. In the 1955–56 season, Liga Leumit came into existence as the new top division, with Liga Alef becoming the second division. Football as an organised sport, first developed in the United Kingdom, who controlled Mandatory Palestine during the days of the British Mandate.
