Ihor Shcherbakov
Ihor Shcherbakov (born 19 November 1955 in Dnipropetrovs’k) is a Ukrainian composer. He won a 1999 Shevchenko National Prize for "Trap for a witch". Since 2010, he is President of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine. He graduated from the P. I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. He teaches at the Ukrainian National Academy of Music. His ''Canzone for Two Violins'' was performed at the 2020 Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival. Dnipro
Dnipro, previously called Dnipropetrovsk from 1926 until May 2016, is Ukraine's fourth-largest city, with about one million inhabitants. The National Union of Composers of Ukraine (ukr: ''Національна спілка композиторів України'') is a public organization that unites Ukrainian composers and musicologists working in academic music. Potential members must have completed a full course of higher education and produced a significant body of work. History The organization's precursor started as the All-Ukrainian Music Society (named after M. Leontovych), established in 1922. Pyotr Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine ( uk, Національна музична академія України імені Петра Чайковського) or Kyiv Conservatory is a Ukrainian state institution of higher music education. History The Kyiv Conservatory was founded on 3 November 1913 at the Kyiv campus of the Music College of the Russian Musical Society. Premieres of the Season is an international music festival founded by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine on December 1, 1988. The initiator and music director of the festival is Ukrainian composer Ihor Shcherbakov. Since 1989, it has been held annually in Kyiv, Ukraine, in the Spring, from late March to early April. In 2015, it was held from May 24 - June 1.
