Igwe Aja-Nwachukwu
Igwe Aja-Nwachuku (March 31, 1952 – November 17, 2015) was a Nigerian politician. He ended his term as education minister of Nigeria on 17 December 2008. He had been appointed education minister eighteen months earlier. He was replaced as education minister by Dr. Sam Egwu. Dr. Aja-Nwachukwu graduated from the University of Ibadan with a B.Sc in statistics, held an MBA Finance, an M.Sc Statistics and a Ph.D in Economics. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering. He began his public service career as Education Officer with the Ebonyi State Ministry of Education in 1979 as a Mathematics teacher. Between 1984 and 2006, he taught finance and business as a Lecturer in Abia State University and Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. Dr. Aja-Nwachukwu also ran for the office of Governor of Ebonyi state of Nigeria in the 2007 elections. Obiageli "Oby" Ezekwesili (born 28 April 1963) is an economic policy expert, an advocate for transparency, accountability, good governance and human capital development, a humanitarian and an activist. Abakaliki
Abakaliki is the capital city of Ebonyi State in southeastern Nigeria, located southeast of Enugu. The inhabitants are primarily members of the Igbo nation. It was the headquarters of the Ogoja province before the creation of the Southeastern State in 1967. Etymology The name Abakaliki originally means 'Aba Nkaleke' and is the name of a community in Izzi land (Nkaleke). History Abakaliki was an important center for the slave trade in the 17th century. Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki was founded in 1999 in Abakaliki, Nigeria. The university's medical faculty was established in 1991 as ESUT's Faculty of Health Sciences. Sam Egwu
Sam Ominyi Egwu CON (born 20 June, 1954) is a Nigerian politician and member of People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria. He was elected Governor of Ebonyi State in the 1999 Ebonyi State gubernatorial election from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. Dr Egwu is noted as pillar of educational development in Ebonyi state and Nigeria. He attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural in 1981. He later received a master's degrees in Agricultural from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1987 and Doctorate in Agronomy from Enugu State University of Technology in 1996. He was a senior lecturer at Enugu State University of Technology and served as commissioner for education in Ebonyi state contributed to the successes recorded in education sector during his tenure as governor.
