Igor Morozov (baritone)
Igor Morozov (born 1948) is a Russian-Ukrainian opera singer ( baritone) (in Russian: ) Igor Morozov was born in Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine and started singing while still a child with professional orchestras. These concerts were broadcast by radio across the Soviet Union. At the age of 16, he left his hometown to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. There, his first teacher was the bass Mark Reizen, and his second the Georgian baritone and People's Artist of the Georgian SSR, David Gamrekeli. Immediately after having finished his studies, young Morozov received a contract as a leading baritone to the Kirov Opera (today's Mariinsky Theatre) and changed two years later to the leading opera house of the Soviet Union: the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. ''The Snow Maiden'' (subtitle: A Spring Fairy Tale) ( rus, Снегурочка–весенняя сказка, Snegúrochka–vesénnyaya skázka, italic=yes ) is an opera in four acts with a prologue by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed during 1880–1881. The Russian libretto, by the composer, is based on the like-named play by Alexander Ostrovsky (which had premiered in 1873 with incidental music by Tchaikovsky). The first performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's opera took place at the Mariinsky Theatre, Saint Petersburg on 29 January 1882 ( OS; 10 February NS) conducted by Eduard Nápravník. Vladimir Andreyevich Atlantov (russian: Владимир Андреевич Атлантов; born 19 February 1939), is a Soviet and Russian operatic tenor. Born in Leningrad, Atlantov is the son of bass Andrey Petrovich (1906–1971) who sang in both the Kirov and Maly opera theaters of Leningrad. His mother, Maria Aleksandrovna Yelizarova, was a lyric soprano who performed in the same opera theaters, taught, and later was a vocal consultant in the Kirov theater. She had been awarded the title of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR. His wife, the soprano Tamara Milashkina, is also an opera singer. Although he produced numerous operas and other songs throughout his career it is his opera ''Pagliacci'' (1892) that remained his lasting contribution, despite attempts to escape the shadow of his greatest success.
