Igor Galo
Igor Galo (born 5 December 1948) is a Serbian and Croatian actor, perhaps best known for his work in Sam Peckinpah's ''Cross of Iron''. He was born on 5 December 1948 in Ćuprija, SR Serbia, FPR Yugoslavia. After moving around Yugoslavia his family settled in Pula where Galo completed gymnasium high school in 1967. He enrolled into the University of Zagreb forestry and economics studies but quickly dropped out when he started his acting career in 1968. Over the years he appeared in over 60 cinematic and TV roles out of which at least 22 were lead role. Beyond the former Yugoslavia he appeared as Lieutenant Meyer in 1977 Cross of Iron. Ćuprija
Ćuprija (Serbian Cyrillic: Ћуприја, ) is a town and municipality located in the Pomoravlje District of central Serbia. The population of the town is 19,380, while the municipality has 30,645 inhabitants. History The Romans founded the town as a fort Horreum Margi (Horreum: ''Granary'', Margi: '' Morava'') on the road from Constantinople to Rome, where it crosses the river now known as Velika Morava. It served as a Roman military base, had a shield factory and gained the status of ''municipium'' before AD 224. In 505, the Romans were defeated by Goths and Huns under Mundo, a descendant of Attila the Hun. ''The Bridge'' ( sh, / ) is a 1969 Yugoslav film that takes place during World War II. Partisans mine a heavily guarded bridge held by Nazi forces, to check a German offensive. The movie was directed by Hajrudin Krvavac, and stars Velimir 'Bata' Živojinović, Slobodan Perović, Boris Dvornik and Igor Galo. Plot In 1944, Standartenführer Hoffmann is assigned as extra security for a vital bridge near the Yugoslavian border with Greece as German forces are pulling out of the latter country. He wants to take a proactive approach towards Yugoslav Partisan threats but Oberst von Felsen, whom Hoffman is reinforcing, disagrees.
