Igor Abakoumov (born 30 May 1981 in Berdyansk, Ukraine) is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer of Ukrainian origin. Abakoumov became a naturalized Belgian citizen on 15 September 2001. He turned professional in 2002. Abakumov was left in limbo by his former team, , when the sponsors pulled the plug on funds following a drugs scandal. He last rode for the . Berdyansk
Berdiansk or Berdyansk ( uk, Бердя́нськ, translit=Berdiansk, ; russian: Бердя́нск, translit=Berdyansk ) is a port city in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast (province) in south-eastern Ukraine. It is on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov, which is the northern extension of the Black Sea. It serves as an administrative center of Berdiansk Raion (district), though it does not belong to the raion. The city is named after the Berda River forming the Berdianska Spit at the foot of which it is located. Berdiansk is home to a safari zoo, water park, museums, health resorts with mud baths and climatic treatments, and numerous water sport activities. Since 27 February 2022, it is under Russian military occupation. Name Its original name was "Kutur-Ogly". The city name changed to "Novo-Nogaisk" in 1830 ("New Nogaisk") (see Nogai). Le Samyn is an annual single-day road bicycle race in Belgium, held usually in late February or early March. The event was created in 1968 as ''Grand Prix de Fayt-le-Franc'', named after the former municipality where it started and finished. In 1970 it was renamed ''Grand Prix José Samyn'' as a tribute to José Samyn, the race's first winner who died in a race accident in 1969. Johan Capiot holds the record with three wins. The 2006 Dwars door Vlaanderen was the 61st edition of the Dwars door Vlaanderen cycle race and was held on 22 March 2006. The race started in Kortrijk and finished in Waregem. The race was won by Frederik Veuchelen. The race was characterized by Tom Boonen who was training himself for the big (Flemish) monuments to come (RVV, E3, P-R, ...); according to many this was one of his best performances in a single-day race ever, even thought he did not win. The Brussels Cycling Classic (known until June 2013 as Paris–Brussels) is a semi classic European bicycle race, one of the oldest races on the international calendar. History Paris–Brussels was first run on 12 August 1893 as an amateur event over a distance of 397 km, Belgian Andre Henry took the inaugural victory from compatriot Charles Delbecque with France's Fernand Augenault coming in third. The race did not return to the racing calendar until 1906 when it was run as a two-day event on 3 and 4 June. The first stage of this 1906 event was run from the Paris suburb of Villiers-sur-Marne to Reims over 152 km and was won by France's Maurice Bardonneau.
