The Church of the Immaculate Conception ( es, Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción), popularly known as La Inmaculada, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Rivera, Uruguay. The original parish was established in 1884 by bishop Inocencio MarÃa Yéregui Inocencio MarÃa Yéregui Goichea (28 July 1833 - 1 February 1890) was a Uruguayan cleric. Rivera
Rivera () is the capital of Rivera Department of Uruguay. The border with Brazil joins it with the Brazilian city of Santana do Livramento, which is only a street away from it, at the north end of Route 5. Together, they form an urban area of around 200,000 inhabitants. As of the census of 2011, it is the sixth most populated city of Uruguay. History On 21 March 1860 a ''pueblo'' (village) named Pereira was created by the Act of Ley Nº 614. Inocencio MarÃa Yéregui Goichea (28 July 1833 - 1 February 1890) was a Uruguayan cleric. Upon the death of Bishop Jacinto Vera in May 1881, Yéregui was appointed auxiliary bishop of Montevideo and titular bishop of Canopus. Carlos Parteli
Carlos Parteli Keller (Rivera, 8 March 1910 – Montevideo, 26 May 1999) was a Uruguayan Roman Catholic cleric. Biography At 13 years of age he entered the Minor Seminary and at 16 he was sent to Rome by the second Bishop of Melo José JoaquÃn Arrospide to study at the South American College in Rome. He studied philosophy and theology and was ordained priest on Holy Saturday of 1933 in the Church of San Juan Bautista Berrán. On his return to Uruguay he served as parish priest of the Cathedral of Florida until 1939, when he became secretary of Bishop Miguel Paternain. In 1942 he moved to Rivera, where he was appointed pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish Church. Later, in 1960, he was appointed bishop of then newly created Roman Catholic Diocese of Tacuarembó. He was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Montevideo and titular bishop of Turris in Mauretania in 1966.
