Idwal Robling
James Idwal Robling (1927 – 9 June 2011) was a Welsh sports commentator, who worked for the BBC in Wales for almost 40 years. Biography Robling was born in Ynyshir in the Rhondda, where he attended the local grammar school. His education was interrupted by the Second World War, and upon being called up was accepted for service in the Royal Navy. However, he was selected by ballot to become a Bevin Boy so instead of going to the Navy he was conscripted to work in the coal mines. After the war, he resumed his education and qualified as a teacher after attending Caerleon College and Loughborough University, although instead of teaching he decided on a different career and became a manager at the Lovell's sweet factory in Newport, Monmouthshire. Robling was an outstanding amateur footballer, and was part of the Great Britain squad for the 1952 Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki. Ynyshir
Ynyshir () is a village and community located in the Rhondda Valley, within Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. The name of the village means "long island" in Welsh and takes its name from a farm in the area, falling within the historic parishes of Ystradyfodwg and Llanwynno (Llanwonno). The community of Ynyshir lies between the small adjoining village of Wattstown and the larger town of neighbouring Porth. Ynyshir has its own library, post office, doctor's surgery and a number of shops and other significant amenities, although these represent a fraction of the businesses that once fronted the main road – Ynyshir Road during the village's heyday. Wrexham A
Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, near the border with Cheshire in England. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. Lewis Robling
Lewis David Robling (born 3 October 1991) is a Wales Under-20 international rugby union player. Robling plays for Blackheath having progressed through the academy team at Dragons and previously played for Newport RFC. His usual position is Fly Half or Centre. Robling made his debut for Newport Gwent Dragons versus Glasgow on 7 October 2011. He scored his first try for the Dragons in the 21–20 win against the Ospreys 6 January 2012. In April 2014 Robling signed for English Championship club Jersey Reds. On 14 April 2017, Robling signed for Championship rivals Ealing Trailfinders for the 2017–18 season. On 16 May 2018 Robling signed for another Championship rival, Bedford Blues, for the 2018–19 season. He joined National League 1 side Blackheath ahead of the 2020–21 season. The brand extends to BBC Wales' live coverage, ''Scrum V Live'', highlights and discussion programmes, radio discussion and website. John Mahoney (footballer)
John Francis Mahoney (born 20 September 1946) is a former Welsh international footballer who played as a midfielder between the 1960s and 1980s for Crewe Alexandra, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Swansea City. He attained 51 caps for Wales. Career Mahoney was born in Cardiff and grew up in Manchester as his father played Rugby league with Oldham R.L.F.C. Mahoney began playing non-league football with Ashton United before signing for Crewe Alexandra in March 1966. With Liverpool showing a big interest in Mahoney, Crewe's former Stoke player Johnny King recommended him to Stoke manager Tony Waddington and he duly took his advice and signed him for £19,500 in March 1967.
