Idrissou Mora Kpaï
Idrissou Mora-Kpai (born 14 July 1967), is a Beninese filmmaker. He is most notable as the director of critically acclaimed films '' Indochina Traces of a Mother'', ''Arlit The Second Paris'', and ''Si-Gueriki The Queen Mother''. He is a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowshipand the Dutch Prince Claus Award Personal life He was born on 14 July 1967 in Béroubouay, Northern Benin to a family of commercial cattle farmers. His father was Mora-Kpai Sounon Dangnon and mother was Bougnon Yarou Signangui. He graduated with M.A. degree at the Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg, Germany. He also worked as a visiting lecturer at Cornell University, Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh. Currently he lives in the US. The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany. The Cinema of Benin refers to the film industry of the Republic of Benin in West Africa. History Sources differ as to the which was the first Beninese film, with some pointing to the short ''Lumière des hommes'' (1954, director unknown), with others pointing to the work of Pascal Abikanlou, who made a number of documentaries in the 1960s, followed by his first feature film ''Sous le signe du vaudou'' in 1974. Richard De Medeiros was another noted director of the early independence years, beginning with 1970's ''Le roi est mort en exil'', an examination of Béhanzin, the last king of Dahomey. Arlit is an industrial town and capital of the Arlit Department of the Agadez Region of northern-central Niger, built between the Sahara Desert and the eastern edge of the Aïr Mountains. It is 200 km south by road from the border with Algeria. As of 2011, the commune had a total population of 112,432 people. Shooting Of Walter Scott
On April 4, 2015, Walter Scott, a 50-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Michael Slager, a local police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina. Slager had stopped Scott for a non-functioning brake light. Slager was charged with murder after a video surfaced showing him shooting Scott from behind while Scott was fleeing, which contradicted Slager's report of the incident. The racial difference led many to believe that the shooting was racially motivated, generating a widespread controversy. The case was independently investigated by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina, and the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division conducted their own investigations. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.
