	Bernd Heinrich Bernd Heinrich (born April 19, 1940 in Bad Polzin, Germany), is a professor emeritus in the biology department at the University of Vermont and is the author of a number of books about nature writing and biology. Heinrich has made major contributions to the study of insect physiology and behavior, as well as bird behavior. In addition to many scientific publications, Heinrich has written over a dozen highly praised books, mostly related to his research examining the physiological, ecological and behavioral adaptations of animals and plants to their physical environments. He has also written books that include more of his personal reflections on nature. He is the son of Ichneumon expert Gerd Heinrich. picture info	Ichneumoninae Ichneumoninae is a worldwide subfamily of the parasitic wasp family Ichneumonidae. Ichneumoninae are koinobiont or idiobiont endoparasitoids of Lepidoptera. It is the second largest subfamily of Ichneumonidae, with 373 genera. Ichneumonines are often large, conspicuous colourful insects. They have a 5-sided areolet, a dorso-ventrally flattened abdomen, a short or absent sternaulus and the clypeus is truncate, exposing the labium. There are more than 420 genera and 4375 described species in Ichneumoninae. Ichneumoninae was formerly made up of 15 tribes, but research published in 2021 determined that the tribes Ceratojoppini, Clypeodromini, Compsophorini, Ctenocalini, Goedartiini, Heresiarchini, Ischnojoppini, Joppocryptini, Listrodromini, and Oedicephalini should be incorporated into Ichneumonini as junior synonyms.
