Ice Hockey In Idaho
Idaho has seen scant interest from ice hockey in the United States. In spite of small investments, the state has seen a decent amount of engagement from residents. History Idaho was one of several Rocky Mountain states that was ignored by the ice hockey community at large for many years. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that the gem state received its first professional team. For its third season, the West Coast Hockey League add the Idaho Steelheads as part of its 5-team expansion. The team was middling at best during its first three seasons but that didn't seem to deters fans. The Steelheads averaged just shy of 5,000 per game and they rewarded the patience of the locals when the team reached the league finals in both 2001 and 2002. However, in 2003 the team faced an uncertain future when the WCHL collapsed. Fortunately, the remaining six teams were accepted into the ECHL and the Steelheads promptly won the league championship. USA Hockey is the national ice hockey organization in the United States. Kevin Kantee (born January 29, 1984) is an American born Finnish professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks as their sixth-round pick, #188 overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played for Jokerit, TPS, Ilves and JYP in the Finnish SM-liiga 2003-2010, and transferred to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian Hockey League for the 2010-2011 season. Guyle Fielder
Guyle Abner Fielder (born November 21, 1930) is a retired American-born Canadian professional ice hockey center. He is most known for his time in the minor Western Hockey League, where he played from 1952 to 1973. Fielder also played 9 regular season and 6 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1951 and 1958. Cody Lampl (born June 19, 1986) is an American and German professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) for the Straubing Tigers. The Idaho Jr. Steelheads, also called the Idaho IceCats, were a junior ice hockey#AAU, junior ice hockey team based in McCall, Idaho. McCall, Idaho
McCall is a resort town on the western edge of Valley County, Idaho, United States. Named after its founder, Tom McCall, it is situated on the southern shore of Payette Lake, near the center of the Payette National Forest.
