The crocodile icefish or white-blooded fish comprise a family (Channichthyidae) of notothenioid fish found in the Southern Ocean around Antarctica. They are the only known vertebrates to lack hemoglobin in their blood as adults. Icefish populations are known to reside in the Atlantic and Indian sectors of the Southern Ocean, as well as the continental shelf waters surrounding Antarctica. Water temperatures in these regions remain relatively stable, generally ranging from . One icefish, ''Champsocephalus esox,'' is distributed north of the Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone. At least 16 species of crocodile icefish are currently recognized, although eight additional species have been proposed for the icefish genus ''Channichthys.'' Jonah's Icefish
Jonah's icefish (''Neopagetopsis ionah'') is a benthopelagic species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Channichthyidae, the crocodile icefishes. It is the only member of the monotypic genus ''Neopagetopsis''. It is found in the Southern Ocean at depths of from . It has a circum-Antarctic distribution on the continental slope and continental shelf, with the northernmost records from the South Shetland and the South Orkney Islands. Taxonomy Jonah's icefish was first formally described in 1947 by the Swedish ichthyologist with the type locality given as near the Balleny Islands, Ross Dependency in Antarctica. It is the only species in the genus ''Neopagetopsis''. The genus name is a compound of ''neo'' which means "new"; and ''Pagetopsis'', the name of a related genus to which this taxon bears a resemblance, but differs by having long pelvic fins and three lateral lines. Virgil Donati (born 22 October 1958) is an Australian drummer, composer and producer. He holds the drum sticks in the Traditional grip, traditional style and is also proficient at the Keyboard instrument, keyboard. Donati formed Planet X (band), Planet X with Derek Sherinian and was the band's principal composer on all their albums. He also performed in Melbourne with Irwin Thomas, Jack Jones (Irwin Thomas) in a Van Halen tribute band known as Hans Valen before inviting Jones into Donati's own bands The State (band), The State and Southern Sons. Marco Sfogli (born April 4, 1980) is an Italian heavy metal and rock guitarist. He's the guitar player for James LaBrie, PFM and Icefish. He appeared on several albums.
