Sultan Ibrahim ( ms, سلطان إبراهيم, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; born 22 November 1958) is the seventeenth and current Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia. He is also the fifth Sultan of modern Johor as Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar ( ms, سلطان إبراهيم ابن المرحوم سلطان إسکندر, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset) since ascending to the throne following the death of his father, Sultan Iskandar in 2010. A motorcycle enthusiast, Sultan Ibrahim is the founder of the annual motorcycling tour event, Kembara Mahkota Johor. On 31 January 2024, he was sworn in as the seventeenth Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, having been elected to a five-year term on 27 October 2023. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (, Jawi: ), also known as the Supreme Head of the Federation, the Paramount Ruler or simply as the Agong, and unofficially as the King of Malaysia, is the constitutional monarch and head of state of Malaysia. The office was established in 1957, when the Federation of Malaya (now Malaysia) gained independence from the United Kingdom. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is elected by the Conference of Rulers, comprising the nine rulers of the Malay states, with the office de facto rotated between them, making Malaysia one of the world's few elective monarchies. The 16th and current Yang di-Pertuan Agong is Sultan Abdullah of Pahang, replacing Muhammad V of Kelantan, who abdicated on 6 January 2019. Abdullah was elected on 24 January 2019, at a special meeting of the Conference of Rulers; he took the oath of office and was sworn in at the Istana Negara on 31 January 2019.
