Claraval
Claraval is a Brazilian municipality located in the southwest of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was 4,853 people living in a total area of 210 km². The city belongs to the meso-region of ''Sul e Sudoeste de Minas'' and to the micro-region of Passos. It became a municipality in 1953. History Founded as District of Garimpo das Canoas, belonging to the municipality of Ibiraci, it was elevated to the category of municipality in 1953, with the new name of Claraval. The origin of the toponym was an homage (Claraval being the Portuguese for Clairvaux) paid to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Prior of the French mother house of the Cistercians, since the year of the administrative emancipation of the town coincided with the eight hundredth anniversary of the saint's death. Capetinga
Capetinga is a Brazilian municipality located in the southwest of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population was 6,890 people living in a total area of 296 km². The city belongs to the meso-region of Sul e Sudoeste de Minas and to the micro-region of Passos. It became a municipality in 1938. History In 1923 it was dismembered from São Sebastião do Paraíso. In 1938 the municipality was created. The name, Capetinga, according to data from the local government, means - "capeva"" - grass; and "tinga" - which smells bad.
