Pierre Le Moyne D'Iberville
Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (16 July 1661 – 9 July 1706) or Sieur d'Iberville was a French soldier, explorer, colonial administrator, and trader. He is noted for founding the colony of Louisiana in New France. He was born in Montreal to French colonist parents. Early life Pierre Le Moyne was born in July 1661 at Fort Ville-Marie (now Montreal), in the French colony of Canada, the third son of Charles le Moyne de Longueuil et de Châteauguay, a native of Dieppe or of Longueuil near Dieppe, Normandy in France and lord of Longueuil in Canada, and of (called Catherine Primot in some sources) from Rouen. He is also known as ''Sieur d'Iberville'' (''et d'Ardillières''). He had eleven brothers, most of whom became soldiers. Iberville (Manitoba Provincial Electoral District)
Iberville is a former provincial electoral division in Manitoba, Canada. It was created by redistribution in 1914, and was eliminated by the 1955 redistribution before the 1958 provincial election. Iberville was located to the west of Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba. When it was eliminated in 1958, some of its territory was transferred to the new constituency of Rockwood—Iberville, some to the new district of Fort Garry, and some to newly-drawn Assiniboia Assiniboia District refers to two historical districts of Canada's Northwest Territories. Iberville (Quebec Provincial Electoral District)
Iberville is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of the province of Quebec, Canada. It is located south of Montreal. It includes part of the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, as well as Marieville, Saint-Césaire and Mont Saint-Grégoire. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. It was named after former New France explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. The city of Saint-Pie was lost to the Saint-Hyacinthe district in the 2011 electoral map, updated from the 2001 map. Saint-Jean—Iberville—Napierville was a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in the provinces and territories of Canada, province of Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1949 to 1968. Iberville Parish, Louisiana
Iberville Parish (french: Paroisse d'Iberville) is a parish located south of Baton Rouge in the U.S. state of Louisiana, formed in 1807. The parish seat is Plaquemine. At the 2010 U.S. census, the population was 33,387, and 30,241 at the 2020 census. History The parish is named for Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, who founded the French colony of Louisiana. A few archeological efforts have been made in the Parish, mainly to excavate the Native American burial mounds that have been identified there. The first expedition, led by Clarence B. Moore, was an attempt at collecting data from a couple of the sites, and it set the groundwork for later projects. Moore was mainly interested in the skeletal remains of the previous inhabitants, rather than excavating for archeological items. Iberville Projects
Iberville Projects was a neighborhood in the city of New Orleans and one of the low-income Housing Projects of New Orleans. The Iberville was the last of the New Deal-era public housing remaining in the city. Its boundaries were St. Louis Street, Basin Street, Iberville Street, and North Claiborne Avenue. It is located in the 6th ward of downtown New Orleans, on the former site of the Storyville district (the city's official red-light district). The area has recently been redeveloped into a modernized apartment complex called the Bienville Basin Apartments. History 20th century The Iberville development was built on a ten-block site in the early 1940s as part of the Wagner Bill. The land was previously Storyville, the city's official red light district. Iberville, Quebec
Iberville was a city in the Montérégie region of the Canadian province of Quebec on the east side of the Richelieu River, across from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. It was about 30 miles (50 km) from Montreal, and about the same distance from the United States border at the head of Lake Champlain. In 2002, Iberville merged with neighbouring Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, along with several other neighbouring towns and villages. The population of Iberville in 2006 was 9,989, up 6% from the 2001 census. The last mayor of Iberville was Jean Rioux, who later became a Liberal MNA in the National Assembly of Quebec and a Liberal MP in the House of Commons of Canada.
