''Ibertren'' is a Spanish brand of model railway, based in Barcelona. It specialises in models of the Spanish RENFE train engines and cars. Ibertren N scale models were quite popular in Spain in the 90s; as of 2008, it sells a very limited selection of N models and a few H0 models. N series Ibertren manufactured two series of N-scale models: 2N and 3N. In the 3N series, a non-insulated DC three-rail system was used to power the engines. The 2N series, which were introduced later when 3N sales went down, used DC with negative current on one rail and positive on the other. H0 Scale
HO or H0 is a rail transport modelling scale using a 1:87 scale (3.5 mm to 1 foot). It is the most popular scale of model railway in the world. Model Railway
Railway modelling (UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland) or model railroading (US and Canada) is a hobby in which rail transport systems are modelled at a reduced scale. The scale models include locomotives, rolling stock, streetcars, tracks, signalling, cranes, and landscapes including: countryside, roads, bridges, buildings, vehicles, harbors, urban landscape, model figures, lights, and features such as rivers, hills, tunnels, and canyons. Shunter
A switcher, shunter, yard pilot, switch engine, yard goat, or shifter is a small Rail transport, railroad locomotive used for manoeuvring railroad cars inside a rail yard in a process known as Shunt (railway operations), ''switching'' (US) or ''shunting'' (UK). Switchers are not intended for moving trains over long distances but rather for assembling trains in order for another locomotive to take over. Third Rail (model Railroading)
The use of a third rail in rail transport modelling is a technique that was once applied, in order to facilitate easier wiring. Early train sets Pre-war train sets from makers such as Hornby were almost entirely O gauge, either clockwork or electric, with the electric sets using a three rail system. Both the track and rolling stock were made from pressed, lithographed tinplate, with a few pieces of die-cast zinc or turned brass. The third rail was insulated from the tinplate sleepers by insulating fibre washers. Post-war, there was a shift from O gauge to half-size scales of HO and OO. Improved technology at this time, particularly for moulded plastic components, made two-rail electrification practical. Many of the new generation of scenic railway modellers scratch-built their new locomotives for two-rail, although this was far from universally accepted. SNCF Class C 61000
The SNCF Class C 61000 (+ TC 61100) diesel shunters were built by Compagnie Electro-Méchanique (CEM) between 1950–1953. 48 locomotives were built, numbered C 61001–61048. They were used for heavy shunting duties around Le Havre.
