picture info	Iberg (Harz) The Iberg is a hill, 563 m above sea level, in the western Harz mountains in the German state of Lower Saxony. It lies north of Bad Grund, above the Harz High Road. The Iberg is an old coral reef that emerged in the Givetian/Frasnian (Devonian) stages, that was created as an atoll in the middle of the ocean, probably from the base of a volcano. The reef was mainly built by corals und stromatoporoidea. Later, as the Frasnian transitioned into the Famennian, these reef-building organisms died out leaving the reef unfinished. During the Famennian and Mississippian crevices emerged that were filled with crinoid, brachiopod und goniatite chalks. The Iberg is made entirely of limestone and karstification has resulted in numerous caves. One of these, the Iberg Dripstone Cave is open to the public through guided tours. picture info	Iberg Castle, Aargau Iberg Castle (german: Ruine Iberg) is a ruined castle located on Iberg mountain in the municipality of Riniken in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. Only a few remnants of the ruins are visible. Castle History The castle was built in the 11th Century on the northeastern edge of Iberg Mountain. This site consisted of a main building, a gatehouse and two outbuildings. Surrounding the site was the castle moat, which should protect against attacks from the south. As there are no written records of the castle nor the inhabitants, the only information about the castle comes from archaeological investigations. Iberg studied musicology, history of ideas and religious studies at the University of Oslo under the tutorship of composers Olav Anton Thommessen and Ragnar Søderlind. As a composer, Iberg has made the transition from jazz to contemporary orchestral music. Iberg’s works have been commissioned and performed by several of Norway’s major symphony orchestras, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival. Iberg is a recipient of a Prix Italia Work of the Year Award for his opera ''Det ondes problem'' (1990) as well as nominations to the Edvardprisen and the Spellemannprisen – the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy.
