Iardanos Tomb
Iardanos ( el, Ιάρδανος) is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pyrgos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 62.723 km2. Its seat of administration was the village Vounargo. Iardanos is enclosed by the municipal units of Amaliada to the north, and Pyrgos to the south. West Greece
Western Greece Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Δυτικής Ελλάδας, translit=Periféria Dhitikís Elládhas, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It comprises the western part of continental Greece and the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. Vrochitsa ( el, Βροχίτσα) is a settlement in the municipal unit of Iardanos, Greece. It is situated in a valley surrounded by low hills, at 80 m elevation. It is 2 km southwest of Elaionas, 2 km east of Fonaitika, 4 km east of Vounargo and 7 km north of Pyrgos. Its population is 359 people (2011 census). Koryfi, Elis
Koryfi ( el, Κορυφή meaning pointy) is a settlement in the municipal unit of Iardanos, Elis, Greece. For the centuries the name of the village is Koukouvitsa (Κουκουβίτσας)- the bulgarian word for the bird cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) as many others bulgarnan names of settlements, fortresses and places wide sped on the Balkans, the bulgarian slavic name in the cold war years change to the present greek in 1955. It is situated in a hilly area, at 290 m elevation. It is 4 km northeast of Vounargo, 6 km southwest of Peristeri, 9 km southeast of Amaliada and 10 km north of Pyrgos. Its population in 2011 was 223 for the village and 246 for the community, which includes the monastery Fragkopidima. Fortress of Koukouvitsa (Κάστρο Κουκουβίτσας), built without bricks, but form well formed big stone blocks as bulgarian medieval fortresses, is located about 2.5 km north of the community. Elis or Ilia ( el, Ηλεία, ''Ileia'') is a historic region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It is administered as a regional unit of the modern region of Western Greece. Its capital is Pyrgos. Until 2011 it was Elis Prefecture, covering the same territory. The modern regional unit is nearly coterminous with the ancient Elis of the classical period. Amaliada
Amaliada ( el, Αμαλιάδα, Katharevousa: Ἀμαλιάς, ''Amaliás'') is a town and a former municipality in northwestern Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ilida, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 251.945 km2. In 2011, the municipal unit had 28,520 inhabitants, of whom 16,763 lived in the town of Amaliada. It is near the archaeological site of Elis, the city-state whose territory was the site of the ancient Olympic Games. It is situated in the plains of Elis, 6 km from the Ionian Sea. It is 10 km southeast of Gastouni, 16 km northwest of Pyrgos and 60 km southwest of Patras.
