New York Golden Blades
The New York Raiders were an ice hockey team in New York City, and founding member of the World Hockey Association. Intended to be the WHA's flagship franchise, the team was unable to compete with the National Hockey League's established New York Rangers, and expansion New York Islanders. During its inaugural season, the WHA had to take over ownership of the team. A third owner took over and renamed the franchise the New York Golden Blades to start the second season, but remained in financial distress and moved to the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area township of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on November 21, 1973, becoming the Jersey Knights, its third name and second home, under three different ownership arrangements, in less than two full seasons of operation. Jordan Wilkie
Jordan Wilkie (born February 21, 1982) is a Canadian firefighter and politician based in the city of Edmonton. He is currently the leader of the Green Party of Alberta. Early life and education Jordan Wilkie was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the son of professional ice hockey player Ian Wilkie. He is the grandson of aviation pioneer Max Ward. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Western Ontario and a masters in disaster emergency management from Royal Roads University, British Columbia. Career Wilkie began his firefighting career in 2008, and in 2011, he took part in the response to the Slave Lake wildfire. The Greensboro Generals were an East Coast Hockey League team based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and played at the Greensboro Coliseum from 1999 to 2004. The name was originally used by the Greensboro Generals in the Eastern Hockey League. The Edmonton Oil Kings are a Junior ice hockey, major junior ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, that play in the Western Hockey League (WHL). As of July 2008, they are owned by Daryl Katz's Oilers Entertainment Group, which also owns the Edmonton Oilers. The 2007–08 WHL season, 2007–08 season was the newest incarnation of the Oil Kings' inaugural season in the WHL. Edmonton Oil Kings (WCHL)
The Edmonton Oil Kings were a Canadian junior ice hockey team, and founding member of the Western Hockey League. They played at Edmonton Gardens in Edmonton, Alberta, and later Northlands Coliseum. In 1976, they moved to Portland, Oregon to become the Portland Winter Hawks. A second incarnation of the team played only one season in 1977–78 before moving to Great Falls, Montana. Foundation of the Oil Kings The Alberta Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) sought to combine the best players from the Edmonton Junior Hockey League into a Western Canada Junior Hockey League (WCJHL) team.
