Ian Mackay (footballer)
Ian Mackay Abad (born 14 July 1986) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for CD Eldense. Career Born in A Coruña, Mackay emerged through local Deportivo youth ranks, but never managed any first-team appearances, only occasionally being involved in training. In his first year as a professional he was loaned to Segunda División B clubs, Ceuta and Universidad Oviedo, before being released in 2007 and joining another side in that tier, Vecindario. In January 2008, Mackay returned to Galicia, joining lowly Ciudad Santiago and helping to win promotion to the third division, with the club in a severe financial crisis. In the following summer he moved to Ponferradina, still in division three. He achieved promotion to Segunda División in his first season, and played his first match in the competition on 28 August 2010 by starting in a 0–0 home draw against Huesca. Ian Mackay (22 March 1922 – 24 March 2020) was an Australian immunologist. He is noted for his work on autoimmune diseases and is considered to have made major contributions to this field. Ian Mackay is a professor at Monash University and is currently writing a new edition of his textbook on autoimmune disease. His book ''Intolerant Bodies: A Short History of Autoimmunity'' (written with Warwick Anderson) won the General History Prize, New South Wales Premier's History Awards 2015. Ian Mackay is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s. He played for Eastern Suburbs and South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Background Mackay played his junior rugby league for Alexandria Rovers in the South Sydney competition but signed with rivals Eastern Suburbs in 1973.He also played for Paddington Colts in the Eastern Suburbs Junior League from 1969 to 1972. Playing career Mackay made his first grade debut for Easts in 1973. In 1974, Eastern Suburbs won the minor premiership under the coaching of Jack Gibson. Mackay was selected to play at prop in Easts 19-4 victory over Canterbury-Bankstown in the 1974 NSWRL grand final at the Sydney Cricket Ground winning their first premiership in 29 years. In 1975, Mackay was selected to play for Australia at the World Cup and featured in 3 matches.
