Ian Henderson (Australian Politician)
Ian Thomas Henderson (born 24 October 1940) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Brisbane to Walter Henderson and Lilian Florence May, ''née'' Kennedy. He attended state schools at Tin Can Bay, Mooloolaba and Mount Gravatt and then Cavendish Road State High School. He studied at Kelvin Grove Teachers College (Certificate of Teaching), at the University of Queensland ( BA, B.Ed, M.Ed.St) and at the University of New England (Litt.B); he also received an Associate Diplomat of Theology from the Australian College of Theology in Melbourne and a Doctorate of Religious Education at the International Bible Institute in Plymouth, Florida. A school teacher from 1962, he became subject master at Mount Gravatt High School in 1977 and deputy principal of Indooroopilly and Springwood high schools from 1980 to 1984. Electoral District Of Mount Gravatt
Mount Gravatt was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1950 to 2009. The district was based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane. Prior to its abolition, it included the suburbs of Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt East, Eight Mile Plains, Robertson and Sunnybank. In 2008, Mount Gravatt was abolished—with effect at the 2009 state election—as a result of the redistribution undertaken by the Electoral Commission of Queensland. Its former territory and voters were divided between the districts of Chatsworth, Greenslopes, Mansfield, Yeerongpilly and the new seat of Sunnybank. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. It has functioned in the state since the 1880s. History Trade unionists in Queensland had begun attempting to secure parliamentary representation as early as the mid-1880s. William McNaughton Galloway, the president of the Seamen's Union, mounted an unsuccessful campaign as an independent in an 1886 by-election. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Indooroopilly State High School (ISHS), colloquially known as "Indro", is a state high school situated in the south-western suburb of Indooroopilly in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
