Ian Filby
Ian Frederick Filby (born 9 October 1954) is an English retired professional football forward who played professionally in England, South Africa and North America. Career Orient Filby began his career in the youth system at Second Division club Orient and signed his first professional contract on his 18th birthday in October 1972. He later won the London Challenge Cup with the reserve team in 1972 and 1973. He failed to make a first team appearance for the club before departing in 1975. Montreal Olympique (loan) Filby moved to Canada to join North American Soccer League club Montreal Olympique on loan for the 1973 season. Manager Graham Adams commented that Filby was faster and had better ball control than the previous season's highly rated Scottish player Graeme Souness. Woodford, London
Woodford is a town in East London, within the London Borough of Redbridge. It is located north-east of Charing Cross. Woodford historically formed an ancient parish in the county of Essex. It contained a string of agrarian villages and was part of Epping Forest. National Football League (South Africa)
The National Football League (NFL) was the first professional association football league in South Africa, established in 1959. At first the NFL received stiff opposition from the SAFA, the amateur governing body which controlled the major football grounds in the county. The SAFA was a member of FIFA at the time. Initially, only two areas of South Africa were represented - Transvaal and Durban - but gradually the league became more geographically representative. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The Central and South Divisions are at step 3 of the National League System (NLS), and are feeder divisions, mainly to the National League South but also to the National League North. Football League Fourth Division
The Football League Fourth Division was the fourth-highest division in the English football league system from the 1958–59 season until the creation of the Premier League prior to the 1992–93 season. Graeme Souness
Graeme James Souness (; born 6 May 1953) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager, and current TV pundit. A midfielder, Souness was the captain of the successful Liverpool team of the early 1980s, player-manager of Rangers in the late 1980s and captain of the Scotland national team. He also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Sampdoria. Souness' managerial career began when he joined Rangers, leading them to three Scottish titles and four league cups, before joining Liverpool as manager. He went on to become manager of Galatasaray, Southampton, Torino, Benfica, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. Graham Adams (1 March 1933 – 14 February 2020) was a football player and football coach. During his career as a player, he played for Plymouth Argyle F.C. and Oxford United F.C. In September 1961 he was appointed coach of the then amateur club Wycombe Wanderers F.C. - a position he held until the end of the season. During the season, Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz from Vera Cruz, Mexico, played each of the nine NASL clubs in exhibition games that counted in the league's final standings. The 1973 season would be the last season in which games from non-league clubs counted in league standings. A week before the NASL Final 1973, commissioner Phil Woosnam announced that no team in the league made a profit during the season. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. A loan fee can be arranged by the parent club as well as them asking to pay a percentage of their wages. Association football Players may be loaned out to other clubs for several reasons.
