Ian Dingman (athlete)
Ian Dingman (born December 5, 1982) is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a lacrosse player. Dingman, from Deferiet, New York, attended Carthage Senior High School where he lettered in lacrosse four times, football twice, and basketball once. Dingman also attended Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine. Collegiate career In Dingman's freshman year at Navy in 2003, he came off the bench in 11 of 13 games to lead the Midshipmen in scoring with 23 goals and 17 assists. He also had 20 groundballs on the year and garnered Second-Team All-ECAC honors and was named ECAC rookie of the week twice. He received the William H. "Dinty" Moore Award as Navy's top offensive player. In Dingman's sophomore campaign in 2004, he garnered Second-Team All-American honors after scoring 36 goals and dishing out 26 assists. Navy Midshipmen Men's Lacrosse
The Navy Midshipmen men's lacrosse team represents the United States Naval Academy in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. Navy currently competes as a member of the Patriot League and play their home games at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. During the 20th century, the Midshipmen secured 17 national championships, including 2 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association titles and 15 Wingate Memorial Trophy awards. Philadelphia Barrage
The Philadelphia Barrage were a field lacrosse team that are based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and member of Major League Lacrosse. They were the Bridgeport Barrage from 2001 to 2003 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The team then relocated to Philadelphia from the 2004 season to the 2007 season when they became a traveling team for 2008. They ceased operations before the 2009 season due to the economic situation in the United States. The Philadelphia Barrage were resurrected for the 2020 season. Ohio Machine
The Ohio Machine were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Obetz, Ohio. They first played in the 2012 MLL season and continued through the 2018 season. On August 19, 2017, the Machine won their first championship in franchise history by defeating the Denver Outlaws, 17-12. Deferiet, New York
Deferiet is a village in Jefferson County, New York, United States. The population was 294 at the 2010 census. The village is named after settler Jenika de Ferriet. Deferiet is on the southwestern side of the town of Wilna, east of Watertown and south of Fort Drum. Geography Deferiet is located in eastern Jefferson County at (44.034248, -75.682892). Its western border follows the Black River, separating the village from the town of Champion. Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was a men's field lacrosse league in the United States. The league's inaugural season was in 2001. Teams played anywhere from ten to 16 games in a summertime regular season. This was followed by a four-team playoff for the championship trophy, the Steinfeld Trophy, named after founder Jake Steinfeld. League attendance peaked at 6,417 in 2011 and the 2019 average was 4,587. The Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards (originally the Baltimore Bayhawks and Long Island Lizards) were MLL members throughout its existence and competed in the first three championship games, with the Lizards winning two.
