Ian Bennett (soccer)
Ian Dwight Bennett (born August 27, 1983) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for the Milwaukee Wave in the Major Arena Soccer League. He is the older brother of former Syracuse Silver Knights player Josh Bennett. Career College and amateur Bennett attended St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School, and played college soccer at Marian College from 2003 to 2006. During his college years Bennett also played with the Hamilton Thunder in the Canadian Professional Soccer League; he joined the Thunder in 2001 and remained with the team through the 2005 season. In 2006, he spent the summer with the Palm Beach Pumas of the USL Premier Development League. Professional Bennett turned professional in 2007 when he signed with the Charleston Battery in the USL First Division. Florida Tropics SC is a professional soccer club based in Lakeland, Florida. They are owned by Central Florida Sports Ventures, LLC, led by Dr. Panos Iakovidis, and former USL commissioner and Rochester Rhinos owner Chris Economides. Chad Vandegriffe (born November 24, 1989) is an American soccer and indoor soccer player who currently plays for Florida Tropics SC in the Major Arena Soccer League. Youth Prior to turning pro, Vandegriffe was a standout at Chaminade College Preparatory School (Missouri), where he was a four-year letter winner, team captain and Defensive Player of the Year. He helped lead the school to the Missouri Class 3 state championship in 2006. Other accolades include first-team all-Midwest, first-team all-state, first-team All-Metro Catholic Conference, and he was named to Great Midwest Classic All-Tournament Team. He also lettered in baseball and basketball. Drew Christian Ruggles (born July 28, 1992) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Florida Tropics SC in the Major Arena Soccer League and the United Premier Soccer League. Career College and amateur Ruggles played three years of college soccer at Georgia Southern University between 2010 and 2013. While at college, Ruggles also appeared for USL PDL club Michigan Bucks during their 2013 season. Ruggles also appeared for the Georgia Southern Eagles football team in 2012. Professional Ruggles signed his first professional contract with USL Pro club Wilmington Hammerheads on April 4, 2014. Xtreme Soccer League
The Xtreme Soccer League (XSL) was an indoor soccer league that began play in December 2008. Four teams from the former Major Indoor Soccer League participated in the first XSL season: the Chicago Storm, Detroit Ignition, Milwaukee Wave, and New Jersey Ironmen. Other former MISL teams joined the National Indoor Soccer League or Professional Arena Soccer League. The XSL officially launched on 16 September 2008, with a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brian Loftin was the XSL's commissioner. Each team played a 20-game schedule beginning in December and ending in late March. There were no playoffs. On 3 December 2008, the XSL announced that Brine would supply the Triumph X 600 as the official match ball. Citing economic trouble, the XSL folded in July 2009.
