Ian Amey
Ian Frederick Stephen Amey (15 May 1944 – 14 February 2024), who went by the stagename Tich, was an English pop rock guitarist, who was a member of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich from 1964 until his retirement in 2014. Biography Career In the 1950s, Amey was a member of Eddy and the Strollers. He was then persuaded by Trevor Ward-Davies (Dozy) to leave that group to join Davies's group "The Beatnicks". Soon after, Amey persuaded John Dymond (Beaky) to join the Beatnicks. Amey, Davies, and Dymond constantly moved from one band to another, eventually meeting David Harman (Dave Dee). After Dozy met Michael Wilson (Mick) on a bus, he joined on drums and they became "Dave Dee and the Bostons". The Bostons were approached by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley, and they signed on to Fontana Records. Tich (singer)
Rachel Clare Furner (born 1 July 1992), known by her stage name Tich, is an English singer and songwriter signed to Universal Music Publishing. She originally performed as an artist under Tich and as Rachel Furner, signed to Mercury Records. Background Furner was born in Reading and grew up in Northampton. She began to learn to play the piano at the age of six. By age 11 she started to write her own songs about her struggles at school, these experiences inspired her to write a song called Sticks and Stones which she recorded and uploaded to Myspace. In 2006 she became a member of Youth Music Theatre UK joining the Missing Melanie company at London's Greenwood Theatre. At age 15, she got her first record deal with Mercury Records. She attended Northampton High School before moving to London at the age of 16. Career Furner left Mercury Records after two and a half years without releasing any material. The Legend Of Xanadu
"The Legend of Xanadu" is a single by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich that reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1968 and was the group's biggest hit. It was written by songwriters Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley. As was the case with many of the group's recordings, it features novelty elements — a trumpet section and the distinctive sound of a whip cracking in the chorus. The musical accompaniment was directed by John Gregory. The single was certified gold in November 1968. Reception Reviewing for ''Disc and Music Echo'', Penny Valentine wrote: "Having taken us on a round tour of Israel, Russia and goodness knows where else the gentlemen are now thundering across the prairies with this sort of Marty Robbins/Elmer Bernstein piece, Alpert trumpets, whiplash and all!" Magnet Records was a British record label, started in 1973 by Michael Levy and Peter Shelley. It was acquired by Warner Bros. Records in 1988 for an estimated £10m. Artists on the label included Alvin Stardust, Stevenson's Rocket, Matchbox, Adrian Baker, Silver Convention, Guys 'n' Dolls, Darts, Kissing the Pink, Bad Manners, David D'Or, Blue Zoo and Chris Rea, who all achieved success during the 1970s and 1980s. Laverstock is a village and civil parish on the north-east and east outskirts of Salisbury in the ceremonial county of Wiltshire, England. The parish is shaped like a figure 7 and incorporates Ford hamlet, the eastern half of the former manor of Milford, the area near the ancient settlement of Old Sarum, and part of the Hampton Park district on the edge of Salisbury. Laverstock, the parish's main settlement, lies on the east bank of the River Bourne and is approximately east of Salisbury city centre, due south of Swindon and west-southwest of London. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich were an English rock band active during the 1960s. Formed in Salisbury in 1964, the band consisted of David John Harman (Dave Dee), Trevor Leonard Ward-Davies (Dozy), John Dymond (Beaky), Michael Wilson (Mick) and Ian Frederick Stephen Amey (Tich).
