Ian Ainslie
Ian Richard Ainslie is a South African Olympic sailor, who specialized in the Finn class boats. Ainslie took part in three Olympic Games – Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000). He won the 2001 J/22 World Championships. A dinghy is a type of small boat, often carried or towed by a larger vessel for use as a tender. Utility dinghies are usually rowboats or have an outboard motor. Finn Class
The Finn dinghy is a single-handed, cat-rigged sailboat, and a former Olympic class for men's sailing. Since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the Finn has featured in every summer Olympics, making it the longest serving dinghy in the Olympic Regatta and one of the most prolific Olympic sailboats, currently filling the slot for the Heavyweight Dinghy. The Finn is a physically demanding boat to race at the highest levels, especially since the class rules now allow unlimited boat rocking and sail pumping when the wind is above 10 knots. Team Shosholoza
Team Shosholoza is a yacht racing team representing Royal Cape Yacht Club of Cape Town, South Africa, competing in the 2007 America's Cup. The name Shosholoza refers to a popular South African indigenous song and is used in an attempt to encompass the African spirit of 'pushing and pulling together'. History The team's history goes back to when Ian Ainslie taught sailing skills to underprivileged youngsters in the navy village of Simon's Town and Captain Salvatore Sarno asked them to crew his Durban yacht. As the team improved the Captain began to talk about the America's Cup. Soon he had bought RSA 48 and the team was practicing out of the Waterfront in Cape Town. In 2009, they competed in the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, where they defeated defending champions Alinghi on the last day of the regatta's first round robin.
